Pointing to his chest, Ryan Carter boasted, “Because I have a brave heart!”
In the days that followed, Ryan Carter’s headaches never returned. As for Buck, for some unknown reason, he didn’t immediately seek revenge on Ryan Carter either. The tasks of Carrie and Brock were no longer handled by Ryan Carter and Jack; after all, the two of them couldn’t even beat Ryan Carter alone last time, so now they had nothing to say and obediently did the work that was supposed to be theirs in the first place.
Now, with the little skeleton helping to take out the trash in the mornings, and no longer having to do extra chores for Carrie and Brock, Ryan Carter suddenly felt much more relaxed. During this period, Ryan Carter also stopped asking Jack to “borrow” more magic books, and instead focused on diligently studying “Fundamentals of Necromancy,” determined to build a solid foundation first.
Through his recent study of “Fundamentals of Necromancy,” Ryan Carter realized that his spiritual power was extremely weak. Every day, as soon as he returned to the small wooden cabin, he would concentrate and begin meditating. The little skeleton was the weakest dark creature in this alternate world, with such low intelligence that it could only act according to the summoner’s orders. Under Ryan Carter’s command, the little skeleton stayed in the cabin during the day and only went out late at night to take care of the trash bags as instructed.
That night, after returning to the cabin and about to meditate out of habit, Ryan Carter suddenly remembered the mysterious knowledge about forging magic treasures left in his mind by the eccentric Logan Bennett. He thought that the demonic arts he practiced and the necromancy he was now learning, though from different worlds, both belonged to the path of evil and even seemed to have some similarities. He wondered if they could be combined.
As Ryan Carter began to frown and recall in earnest, he found that although there was a lot of memory left by Logan Bennett, most of it felt hazy when he tried to remember, as if looking at something through a thin, blurry sheet of paper—he couldn’t see it all clearly.
After pondering for a long time, he suddenly recalled a method for forging magic treasures. Ryan Carter realized that he had only been learning necromancy for a short time and had only managed to summon a weak skeleton so far. Given that, he decided to use the little skeleton as a test subject.
The first thing needed to forge a magic treasure is materials. Since this was just an experiment for fun, Ryan Carter used the little skeleton as the main material. Some useless blood from low-level magical beasts in the supply room, bone powder, and discarded items like lizard tails became the auxiliary materials.
Some special magic treasures require extremely rare and complex materials, which may not even exist in this world. Ryan Carter didn’t care; he just cobbled together whatever materials he could find for the experiment. He got up and returned to the lab, where he found an unused small bucket and some leftover necromancy materials from other students—materials whose names Ryan Carter didn’t even know.
Taking advantage of the quiet night, Ryan Carter sneaked back to his cabin. Carefully closing the door, he set down the bucket, put the little skeleton inside, then tossed in various random low-level magical beast blood, bone powder, lizard tails, and other materials. He then poured in a bucket of water. The mixture in the wooden bucket was a mess of colors and looked quite ugly. The little skeleton’s skull poked out, looking around blankly, not knowing what was happening.
Closing his eyes, Ryan Carter thought for a while, slowly reviewing the knowledge about forging magic treasures from Logan Bennett. Besides various materials, forging a magic treasure also required setting up a special formation and using the most basic demonic energy. Following a special method, the process could take days or even months—some especially powerful magic treasures could take years to forge.
Of course, all this was beyond what Ryan Carter could do at the moment. He found the simplest method: from the supply room, he found seven pale, discarded bone spikes from some unknown magical beast and arranged them in the bucket according to the “Yin Demon Essence Condensing Array.”
The “Yin Demon Essence Condensing Array” was a demonic formation from Logan Bennett’s memories. The correct method was to first forge seven life-bound “Yin Demons,” then use them to form the array. The forger would inject their demonic energy, and the seven “Yin Demons” would, according to the formation, firmly condense the energy within, slowly dissolving and infusing the materials into the main component. With the help of demonic energy, after thirty-six days, the magic treasure would be complete.
To forge a “Yin Demon,” one must first have a “Yin Spirit.” A person who died with unresolved grievances and was buried in a place of extreme yin might become a “Yin Spirit” if their soul refused to leave. Turning a “Yin Spirit” into a “Yin Demon” required special methods, which Ryan Carter obviously couldn’t do now.
He simply used the seven bone spikes as substitutes for the “Yin Demons,” then squatted by the bucket, trying to channel his demonic energy into the middle finger of his right hand. Suddenly, he thrust his finger into the center of the seven upright bone spikes. Although the bone spikes were just substitutes, the arrangement was correct, and they actually absorbed a bit of demonic energy.
After an unknown amount of time, suddenly, with the seven bone spikes as the center, seven tiny whirlpools appeared in the water.
When Ryan Carter saw the seven whirlpools appear, he finally relaxed, realizing that his random experiment had actually worked. Although he didn’t know what the little skeleton would become in the end, Ryan Carter was at ease. After meditating for a while, he slowly drifted off to sleep.
