Chapter 7

The pain in his nose was gone, and his tears were no longer flowing uncontrollably. Ryan Carter moved his body and sat up on the grass. His eyes swept around and he saw the magic apprentice Amy, Ashley, and Lisa's fellow junior mage Bella—all of them were glaring at him angrily.

There was a murderous aura...

Compared to Lisa, the three girls Amy, Ashley, and Bella were much less attractive. They were all sixteen or seventeen years old, not very pretty to begin with, and now their sleep had been disturbed, which only made things worse. Naturally, the three girls were in a terrible mood.

"Idiot, what are you looking at? Tell me, why do you have rocks in your pants? You kicked my beautiful foot and made it all bruised! Ugh... it hurts so much."

The little witch Lisa glared coldly at Ryan Carter, hands on her hips, speaking arrogantly. But her left foot was limping, making her look a bit odd.

"Idiot, huh..." Ryan Carter sneered inwardly, then put on a blank face and struggled to get up, scratching his head and grinning foolishly. "Hehe," he said, "No, I don't have any rocks in my pants!"

Turning his back to the four necromancy girls, Ryan Carter spoke as he started to undo his pants. Before he could even pull them down, four shrill screams pierced the air, followed by the sound of panicked footsteps.

"Brian, you idiot, put your pants on right now or I'll kill you!" Lisa shouted loudly, her voice clearly flustered.

"Oh." Ryan Carter replied dumbly, but inside he was smirking. A few naive little daisies—how could I not handle you?

Once the one boy and four girls were standing face to face again, Lisa stared at Ryan Carter carefully for a few moments before saying indignantly, "I'll let the rock-in-your-pants thing go, but what were you doing climbing the tree outside my window in the middle of the night?"

"Hehe," Ryan Carter chuckled foolishly, pointing at a tattered bag in the tree and saying matter-of-factly, "I was getting that old bag down!"

"In the middle of the night, you had to get a—gar—bage—bag?" Lisa felt like she was about to explode with anger, shouting furiously.

At that moment, junior mage Bella sighed and said to Lisa, "Hey, Lisa, can't you see by now that this Brian has gone crazy? Looks like your 'wraith' didn't kill him, but drove him mad instead. Why bother arguing with a lunatic?"

Ashley seemed very sleepy, covering her mouth as she yawned. "Oh... we have class tomorrow. I'm going back to sleep. Lisa senior, you handle this!"

Amy seemed to feel a bit sorry for Ryan Carter, giving him a silent look, shaking her head and sighing softly. She didn't say anything more, and left with Bella.

If Ryan Carter hadn't acted so foolish, he probably would have faced the wrath of all three girls in addition to Lisa. But since he seemed mentally unstable, the three girls naturally didn't want to argue with a madman, so they let Ryan Carter off and went back to their dreams.

After the three female students left, only Lisa and Ryan Carter remained. Lisa glared fiercely at Ryan Carter a few more times and said coldly, "Go do whatever you need to do. I'll deal with you in a few days. I'm tired today. If you dare disturb my sleep again, I won't just punch and kick you—I'll use magic to drive you crazy again!"

After saying this, the little witch Lisa shot Ryan Carter another glare and limped away. As she entered the door, she muttered, "Ouch, it hurts! This idiot really did have rocks in his pants. He must have been driven mad by my 'wraith.'"

Once Lisa went inside, silence returned. Seeing her go in, Ryan Carter felt a bit of lingering fear. Luckily, Lisa hadn't used necromancy magic. With her power as a junior mage, if she had sent another "wraith" his way, Ryan Carter might really have gone insane.

With the curtain fallen and everyone gone, Ryan Carter didn't linger. Muttering curses under his breath, he dragged his exhausted, weak body and stumbled back to his own storeroom.

Back in the storeroom, he shoved aside the messy junk on his little bed and collapsed, burying his head and falling fast asleep.

The next day.

Ryan Carter was sleeping soundly when the storeroom door was suddenly pushed open, followed by a loud "Wah..."

Rubbing his sleepy eyes, Ryan Carter turned over and saw a chubby boy with short golden hair, a dark blue left eye, and the same rough servant's clothes, pointing at Ryan Carter in panic, stammering, "You... you..."

"Oh, it's Jack. What are you doing in my room?"

The chubby Jack was the same age as Brian. Maybe because they shared the same fate, Jack was one of the few in the necromancy department who treated Brian well. Jack's family was poor, and two years ago his father, Old Jack, sent him to Babylon Magic and Martial Academy to work as a servant, earning a few silver coins each month.

Although Jack and Brian were both servants, Jack hadn't been sold to Babylon Academy, so he was still a free person. Unlike Brian, who had been sold as a slave by slave traders to Babylon Magic and Martial Academy.
