“Hehe, no wonder everyone wants to learn magic so much. With magic, everything is so much easier. From now on, this little skeleton can get up early and help me throw out the trash!”
Ryan Carter saw that it was still early, flopped back onto his small bed, and continued to sleep soundly. This was the first time in days that Ryan Carter had enjoyed a lazy morning.
After catching up on some sleep, when Ryan Carter opened his eyes, he found that the little skeleton had already returned. It looked like the trash and waste had been taken care of just as he’d ordered.
Climbing down from the small bed and washing his face, Ryan Carter noticed that the bluish-purple bruises on his face from yesterday had all miraculously disappeared. Even some of the scars on both his hands seemed to be fading as the skin peeled. Aside from feeling a bit dizzy from exhausting his mental energy yesterday, Ryan Carter felt in great physical condition.
The “solid” stage of this magic technique would transform the entire body. Once he got through this “solid” stage, all the scars on his body would definitely disappear, and both his physical strength and flexibility would be greatly enhanced. By then, whether it was Buck or Lisa, if they wanted to challenge him one-on-one with skeletons, they’d surely lose.
As Ryan Carter thought about this, he finished washing his face. Seeing the necromancy students on the road heading off to Dark Academy for class, he quickly grabbed his tools and ran out to the path to clean the statues of the top students from Babylon Magic and Martial Academy.
“Ashley, early this morning before dawn, I went to the bathroom and saw from the window a tiny skeleton carrying two garbage bags, slowly walking toward the dump. How strange!” Magic apprentice Amy said to Ashley as they walked toward the Dark Department’s teaching building.
“You’re crazy. What student would be so bored as to summon a little skeleton just to throw out the trash? Isn’t that the kind of thing that half-crazy, half-dumb Brian does?”
“I’m serious! I really saw a tiny skeleton carrying two garbage bags. Also, I think Brian is so pitiful. He was already miserable, and now Lisa has made him like this. Lately, he’s even getting beaten by Buck every day!”
“You must not be fully awake and saw things wrong. Brian is a menial worker, sold to the Magic and Martial Academy as a slave. He’s lucky just to be alive. You’re too kind, worrying about him!”
The two female students walked farther and farther away, and Ryan Carter could no longer hear what they were saying. After a while, Jack came over and started wiping dust with Ryan Carter. After a bit, Jack stared at Ryan Carter and said, “Brian, I think you look like you’ve put on some weight. And didn’t Buck beat you up yesterday? Last night I saw your face was all bruised, but now there’s no sign of it at all?”
“Buck must have been overexerting himself lately. Look at him—his eyes are dull, and he looks so weak. He doesn’t have any strength left. If this keeps up, he probably won’t even be able to beat me!” As he said this, Ryan Carter felt his stomach empty and immediately said to Jack, “I’ve been eating a lot lately. Give me some of the food you’ve got hidden on you.”
“Huh? How did you know I have bread hidden on me?”
“All the menial workers in every department know you have a habit of hiding food on you. You’re the only one who thinks it’s a secret. Stop talking nonsense and give me the bread. I’ll pay you back later!”
Hearing this, Jack reluctantly took out a piece of bread. After looking at it, he broke off a piece before handing it to Ryan Carter.
As Ryan Carter paused his work and wolfed down the bread, Jack suddenly said, “Shh… Buck is coming. Wait… and Lisa too!”
Buck was holding two delicate white boxes, following behind the little witch Lisa with a fawning smile, trying to please her: “Lisa, these are snacks my family specially sent me. They’re really delicious. You probably haven’t had breakfast yet, right? Try some first.”
Yesterday, when Buck hit Ryan Carter, he accidentally got punched in the right cheek by Ryan Carter. Now his right cheek was still a bit bruised, and when he smiled, it seemed to hurt, making him grimace awkwardly, which made his smile look rather ugly.
“Hmph, I’m not hungry. Don’t try that with me. What I hate most is people like you—acting nice on the surface but badmouthing others behind their backs!”
Without even looking at Buck, Lisa just kept walking forward. When she reached Brian and Jack, Lisa shot Brian a cold look and said, “Brian, after your Soul Pain spell ends in a month, I’ll come find you for some real practice!”
Hearing this, Ryan Carter suddenly remembered that since this morning, the Soul Pain spell hadn’t acted up at all. He guessed that after cultivating his mental power yesterday, the Soul Pain spell must have been dispelled; otherwise, it wouldn’t have stayed dormant until now.
After Lisa finished speaking, she was about to leave, but Buck glanced at Brian and suddenly exclaimed, “Huh? How is this possible? I clearly remember your face was all bruised from my beating yesterday. How come there’s nothing there today?”
Damn, you remember that clearly. Ryan Carter looked at Buck with a goofy smile and said nonsense, “Hehe, I take good care of myself!”
