Chapter 18

The next day.

Ryan Carter was still groggy and not fully awake when, with a bang, the small door of the supply room was pushed open. The chubby Jack rushed in, hurried over to shake Ryan Carter awake, and then excitedly shouted, “Brian, get up quick, there’s something great to see!”

Ryan Carter, bleary-eyed, had just been dreaming—he dreamt of sending the little skeleton to fight that little witch Lisa, but the dream wasn’t finished before Jack woke him up. Annoyed, he said, “It’s so early, what is it?”

Jack’s bean-sized eyes sparkled with excitement as he laughed, “Brian, that little witch Lisa, I don’t know how, but she summoned a really strange little skeleton. That skeleton doesn’t even listen to her, and for some reason, it’s been making a racket in her room since early morning.

Then the little skeleton ran off toward the Light Magic Academy, with Lisa chasing after it like crazy. Oh! I swear, I’ve been at the Necromancy Academy for so long and I’ve never seen a little skeleton run that fast. And it has seven bone spurs on its back, like wings!”

At first, Ryan Carter felt quite pleased listening, but as soon as Jack finished, Ryan Carter’s expression changed slightly. Suddenly remembering something, he looked sharply at the small bucket. The water in the colorful bucket had somehow turned pitch black, and the seven bone spurs along with the little skeleton had all disappeared.

No way, he had just used the demon-refining method on it yesterday. In his hazy dream, he seemed to have ordered it to teach Lisa a lesson. But isn’t the refining process supposed to take thirty-six days? How could this happen? Could it be because he used the bone spurs as a substitute for the “Yin Demon,” causing the magic energy to be insufficient?

Thinking of this, Ryan Carter felt a chill in his heart. He jumped out of bed, didn’t even bother with his morning task of wiping the statues, and dragged Jack off toward the Light Magic Academy.

As he ran, Ryan Carter grew more anxious. He wasn’t a pure necromancy student and couldn’t be as indifferent to summoned creatures as the others, ignoring their life and death. During this time, the little skeleton had always helped Ryan Carter throw out the trash, saving him a lot of effort. Unconsciously, Ryan Carter had grown attached to the little skeleton and naturally didn’t want anything to happen to it.

Not only Ryan Carter and Jack, but several other necromancy students were also hurrying toward the Light Magic Academy with strange expressions, chattering nonstop along the way.

“How strange, such a small skeleton, and it’s even black, with seven bone spurs on its back. I really don’t know how Lisa managed to summon it,” said Amy as she hurried along.

“Yeah, and what’s even weirder is that this little skeleton runs so fast. Oh my god, could it be that Lisa’s spiritual power is stronger than ours, so the skeleton warrior she summoned is different from ours?” Ashley was also full of surprise, exclaiming as she and Amy rushed toward the Light Magic Academy.

Over there, the junior mage Bella, hearing what Ashley said, couldn’t help but frown slightly and snort, “I’m a junior mage too, and I’ve never summoned such a strange skeleton. What’s even stranger is that this little skeleton doesn’t even obey its summoner. That’s just not normal.”

...

As Ryan Carter and Jack ran, Ryan Carter listened to the conversations of the necromancy students around him. From their words, Ryan Carter realized that the little skeleton he had refined with the demon-refining method was extremely unusual.

Growing more anxious inside, Ryan Carter tried to contact the little skeleton with his spiritual power and found that he could connect, but perhaps because of the demon-refining process, the little skeleton didn’t seem to receive his commands and was still running around in the distance.

The Light Magic Academy, unlike the necromancy department with its few students, was a major department at Babylon Magic Academy, with many outstanding students. Moreover, Light Magic students had always disliked the dark magic students, probably because light and dark magic were opposites. In particular, necromancy students were especially disliked by the Light Magic students, and Light Magic was also effective at restraining necromancy.

Many Light Magic spells were extremely lethal to the dark creatures summoned by necromancers. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Light Magic the nemesis of necromancy. After returning to the necromancy department, Ryan Carter had learned a lot from the other students and understood these common facts, which made him even more worried about his little skeleton.

Dragging Jack along, Ryan Carter sprinted all the way, moving so fast that his thin body even outpaced some of the other necromancy students, startling those left behind. They thought to themselves, “When did this idiot get so much stamina after going crazy?”

By the time Ryan Carter dragged Jack to the Light Magic Academy, Jack was already exhausted, plopping down on the ground and gasping for breath, complaining, “Brian, you run so fast! I’m about to die from being dragged by you, and you don’t even have a drop of sweat on your head.”

At this moment, Ryan Carter’s full attention was on the little skeleton darting around the Light Magic Academy, completely ignoring Jack’s complaints.
