One drop of blood, one life. While others grind away at games, I bleed for them.
With the arrival of the dimensional storm, countless extradimensional realms appeared all over Earth. Beings from other dimensions—immortals, Buddhas, demons, angels, elves, and more—descended upon the world.
Those mysterious extradimensional realms all turned into mobile game dungeons. While others risk their lives for adventure, I risk everything playing games.
Chapter 1: Willful Degeneracy
"After the dimensional storm decades ago, a large number of extradimensional realms appeared all over the world. Gods, immortals, ghosts, monsters, angels, demons, elves, and many other legendary beings were discovered. Humans gained their abilities by hunting these extradimensional creatures..." James White, whose hair was already graying, lectured as his gaze occasionally drifted to the corner of the last row in the classroom.
All the other students were listening intently, but the boy in that corner had his textbook propped up in front of him, sleeping on his desk, with the faint sound of snoring now and then.
James White shook his head almost imperceptibly, sighing inwardly: "What use is talent if you can't handle even a little setback? How could you ever achieve anything great? Although that failure was indeed a heavy blow, to be so utterly defeated by it—he really doesn't deserve the old principal's praise."
James White recalled what the old principal had said to him before retiring, then looked again at the boy sleeping soundly on his desk, drooling at the corner of his mouth, and couldn't help but shake his head and sigh once more.
"Qiubai, in my life I've seen many geniuses, and I've concluded there are only two kinds." The old principal's eyes had been bright back then.
"What two kinds?" James White had asked curiously at the time.
"One kind is called William Carter, and the other kind is all the rest."
That statement from the old principal left a deep impression on James White. Yet the student who had been so highly praised by the principal had now fallen into decadence, showing no ambition, sleeping through every class, and spending every break glued to his phone playing games.
James White had tried to inspire William Carter to pick himself up again, but after several conversations, nothing changed. William Carter still slept through class and played games after, no longer training hard, seemingly having lost all motivation.
"Ring ring!"
As the bell signaling the end of class rang, James White saw William Carter, who had been sleeping on his desk, suddenly sit up with energy, grab his phone, and dash out of the classroom without looking back. This left James White even more disappointed, and he muttered to himself with a sigh, "Old principal, I've done all I can, but William Carter is just a hopeless case."
William Carter jogged away, quickly leaving the teaching building and heading to a secluded corner of the school.
William Carter was well aware of the strange looks teachers and other students gave him, but he didn't care at all.
Others thought William Carter couldn't handle the blow of failure and had given up on himself, but William Carter knew very well that he had never cared about that failure. The reason for his so-called "willful degeneracy" was something others couldn't understand, and he couldn't explain.
Unlocking his phone, William Carter skillfully tapped into a game app called "Ant Nest." Soon, the phone screen showed the dark interior of an ant nest, with winding tunnels and many black ants crawling about.
Glancing around to make sure no one was watching, William Carter pricked his finger with a needle and let a drop of blood fall onto the phone screen.
The next second, something strange happened: William Carter's drop of blood seeped into the phone screen and, within the game's ant nest, condensed into a tiny blood-red figure. Next to the blood-red figure was a profile:
William Carter: 16 years old.
Life Level: Mortal.
Strength: 9.
Speed: 5.
Constitution: 8.
Vital Energy: 4.
Vital Energy Technique: "Bitter Meditation."
Vital Energy Skill: None.
Vital Energy Pet: None.
Since the dimensional storm, all kinds of extradimensional life forms had appeared, roughly divided into four levels: Mortal, Legendary, Epic, and Mythic. Humans were at the lowest, Mortal level. By cultivating vital energy techniques, one could enhance physical qualities and even evolve to a higher life level.
However, simply training vital energy techniques to temper oneself led to very slow evolution. Hunting extradimensional creatures and seizing their dimensional crystals for oneself could accelerate the process.
But the places where extradimensional creatures appeared were extremely dangerous. Aside from a few areas already explored by humans, entering other regions was almost certain death. Not everyone was willing to risk their life for adventure.
Moreover, the Earth Federation had strict regulations: minors were forbidden from entering extradimensional zones.
The "Bitter Meditation" that William Carter practiced was a vital energy technique that relied solely on hard training to cultivate vital energy, without any external aid.
