Chapter 20

“Can you drink? If you can chug this bottle, you can pick any of these girls.” John Thompson placed a bottle of alcohol in front of William Carter.

“I don’t drink.” William Carter shook his head.

“Suit yourself, then.” John Thompson found it a bit boring and stopped paying attention to William Carter, turning to enjoy himself.

William Carter found a spot in the corner to sit down, took out his phone, and started playing by himself, continuing his monster-grinding quest.

Originally, William Carter had no interest in staying here, but since Yu Qiubai asked him to, he couldn’t just leave on his own, so he stayed and played his game.

John Thompson saw William Carter curled up on the sofa in the corner, playing his game without moving for ages, and looked down on him even more: “Just a little setback and he gives up on himself. Old Yu went out of his way to beg me for this useless guy—really not worth it.”

Suddenly, John Thompson had an idea and whispered a few words into the ear of a sexy, alluring girl nearby.

“You’re so bad.” The girl laughed and scolded him, then swayed her hips as she walked over to William Carter.

William Carter was frantically grinding monsters, trying to rush back to where the Silverwing Ant was to see what level that dimensional creature was.

Just as he was getting into it, he suddenly felt something soft press against his arm, and then a sweet, syrupy voice sounded in his ear: “Hey handsome, what game is this? Is it fun?”

“It’s fun.” William Carter didn’t even look up as he kept grinding ants. Even if others saw the game, with its chibi art style, it would be hard to connect it to the dangerous dimensional fields.

Besides, William Carter had never even heard of a dimensional field called the Ant Nest.

The girl saw that William Carter was ignoring her, subconsciously bit her lip, then reached out and stroked William Carter’s cheek, gently but firmly turning his face toward her. She leaned in close and whispered, her breath fragrant: “What’s so fun about games? Why not play with me instead?”

John Thompson sipped his drink, watching William Carter’s reaction with great interest, thinking to himself: “William Carter is such a game nerd, he’s probably never even touched a woman, let alone someone as seductive as Little Emily. Is he going to get a nosebleed?”

Little Emily had only meant to gently turn William Carter’s face. Usually, in this situation, men would look at her willingly, but this time, she felt like William Carter’s face was made of stone, completely unmoving, his eyes still glued to his phone screen.

Little Emily grew annoyed, pressed harder, and forcibly turned William Carter’s face, squeezing his cheek so much it became a little misshapen.

William Carter was in the middle of grinding monsters and really didn’t want to be distracted. His blood-colored avatar was in the middle of a swarm of power ants, and even a moment’s distraction could mean death—and that would cost him a drop of blood.

For over a month now, William Carter had been using his own blood to play the game. He’d lost so much blood he was starting to get anemic, and he didn’t want to waste even a single drop.

Little Emily saw that she’d finally forced William Carter’s face to look at her, but his pupils were still angled toward his phone screen, which made her even angrier. She reached out with her other hand, cupping William Carter’s face with both hands and turning it even more, finally forcing his gaze to meet hers. Only then did she flash a charming smile and say sweetly, “Stop playing games. Let’s have a drink, okay?”

Chapter 15: Don’t Interrupt My Game

William Carter’s gaze was forced away from his phone screen, and he immediately frowned.

He had just seen a mutant power ant charging at him. If he didn’t quickly control his blood-colored avatar to fight back, it would be game over.

Without thinking, William Carter just wanted to get his eyes back on his phone as soon as possible. He reached out, placed a hand on Little Emily’s face, and gave her a gentle push, saying at the same time, “Don’t interrupt my game.”

William Carter didn’t use much force, but he forgot that his strength had increased a lot lately, and Little Emily herself hadn’t trained at all—her physical fitness was worse than the average high schooler.

What was meant to be a casual push ended up sending Little Emily toppling backward, and with a thud, she landed flat on her back on the floor.

“Pfft!” Seeing William Carter push Little Emily to the ground with such obvious disdain, John Thompson spat out the mouthful of alcohol he’d just drunk, coughing violently.

The room instantly fell silent. Seven or eight sexy girls stared at William Carter as if he were some kind of monster.

Little Emily half-sat on the floor, her face full of disbelief, which quickly turned to grievance and anger. As she got up, she cursed, “What’s your problem? No wonder you’ll be single forever.”

William Carter was completely focused on killing the mutant power ant and didn’t pay any attention to her, still frantically tapping away on his phone.

Seeing Little Emily’s aggrieved look, John Thompson was actually amused: “This guy is pretty interesting!”

Little Emily was the top girl at this private club. Although her temperament and other qualities couldn’t compare to the top-tier girls in big cities, her figure was truly outstanding. Even John Thompson thought that aside from her manner and conversation, everything else about Little Emily was excellent—he himself was quite taken with her.

But seeing William Carter push Little Emily away with such obvious distaste had really made John Thompson laugh.
