Chapter 4

Beautiful women usually find it hard to get along with each other, mainly because of constant comparison and jealousy, but Olivia Baker is not that kind of woman. As for Emily Cooper, being the manager, she naturally relies more on those with strong business abilities. She gave Olivia Baker a slight smile, “What you said is right, Sister Ye. External factors have a big impact on our company, but there are also some internal reasons. I’ve looked over everyone’s performance…” She picked up a document from the top and swept her gaze over the group.

Except for Olivia Baker, who looked calm and composed, everyone else instinctively avoided Emily Cooper’s gaze. No one’s performance had been good lately, so naturally, everyone felt a bit guilty when this topic came up.

Emily Cooper deliberately turned to look at David Clark. David Clark smiled at Emily Cooper, appearing completely at ease, as if his performance was also quite good.

“Sister Ye has the best performance in our company. Even though these past few months have been the off-season, she still manages over 200,000 yuan in sales each month. Others have more or less, but can still maintain around 50,000, which is passable. However, there’s one person who has only made a single sale for three consecutive months, and it was only 300 yuan. That’s a bit hard to justify, isn’t it?”

Everyone’s eyes turned to David Clark, all showing sympathy. Although Guo Lin was usually strict, he was still pretty good to everyone. David Clark only made two sales in the first month, and since it was the off-season, he wasn’t fired. Now, with the new manager in place, it seemed the first fire would fall on David Clark.

Emily Cooper’s smile remained unchanged. She only brought up the topic briefly, then continued, “We can’t change the external environment, but we can definitely tap into our internal potential. Why is it that Sister Ye can still get so many orders every month, while the rest of you get much fewer? I believe ability is one reason, but whether everyone is putting in their best effort is also an important factor.”

Olivia Baker sat across from David Clark. When Emily Cooper mentioned performance, she originally thought David Clark would be embarrassed, but to her surprise, David Clark kept smiling, showing no discomfort at all. This puzzled Olivia Baker a bit. She had been sitting across from David Clark for some time, but didn’t really know him. He always seemed lazy and carefree, never taking anything to heart. She wondered if he was just easygoing… or simply thick-skinned.

“Don’t just listen to me, after all, I don’t know the market as well as you all do. I’d like to hear your good ideas, since the company’s development depends on everyone’s joint efforts.” Emily Cooper brought the topic back, encouraging everyone with a smile.

“Ahem…” John Miller cleared his throat and said, “Actually, the most potential right now lies in ordinary building material stores. Each store may not have huge demand, but there are at least a hundred such stores in Liao City. If we also visit the surrounding cities, our performance could improve a lot.”

Emily Cooper’s eyes lit up and she immediately said, “That’s a good idea, Brother Wang. As the saying goes, many little things add up to something big. This market has a lot of potential.”

Having received Emily Cooper’s approval, John Miller was quite pleased and continued enthusiastically, “But it’s not that easy. Our company rarely did business with them before, focusing mainly on big real estate companies. The building material stores have all been taken over by products from other cities. If we want to win back this market, it’ll take a lot more effort.”

“As long as we work hard, there will definitely be results. I won’t expect you all to show immediate results, so don’t worry about that!” Emily Cooper reassured everyone.

Seeing how dedicated Emily Cooper was to the company’s operations, everyone became more enthusiastic and started offering suggestions, making the atmosphere quite lively.

“Yawn…” A big yawn drew everyone’s attention to David Clark. He stretched lazily, then, as if no one else was there, lay on the table and stared at his computer screen, looking thoroughly bored with the meeting.

“Xu… Tao, do you have any ideas?” Emily Cooper really wanted to call him Brother Xu, but seeing David Clark’s current state, she couldn’t help but feel a surge of irritation, so she just called him by name.

“I…” David Clark was momentarily stunned, turned to look at Emily Cooper, and said, “I don’t have any ideas. I’ll just do whatever the leadership arranges.” A typical noncommittal answer.

Emily Cooper frowned, stood up, and said, “Alright! That’s it for today. From now on, let’s all work together to make our company more and more successful, and help everyone’s wallets grow fatter. Tonight, I’ll treat everyone to dinner at Cuiyu Garden. Any objections?”

“No objections…” Emily Cooper’s words were well received, bringing her much closer to everyone.

Turning to the door of the suite, Emily Cooper suddenly looked back at David Clark and said, “David Clark, come here for a moment. I have something to discuss with you.”

What had to come would come. David Clark stood up helplessly and, under the envious yet gloating gazes of John Miller and Jason Wright, walked into Emily Cooper’s small office.
