Chapter 18

The minor commotion temporarily subsided, but everyone was left with a poor impression of David Clark. Just now, when Emily Cooper got angry, David Clark completely ignored it, showing not a shred of manly backbone.

Jessica Brooks exchanged a glance with Robert Miller, then shrieked, “Let’s have Robert Miller open the wine for us now, so everyone can taste this world-famous wine. Let’s give him a round of applause!” She took the lead in clapping.

Enthusiastic applause broke out immediately, but aside from the smug Robert Miller, there were three people who didn’t clap: Emily Cooper, David Clark, and Yvonne Foster.

“Opening wine is an art in itself. I’ll open the wine for everyone now, so please wait a moment.” Robert Miller waved his hand, then pulled out a small knife and a wooden-handled corkscrew from his pocket.

While cleaning the seal with the knife, Robert Miller showed off as he explained, “When opening Lafite, you can’t do it like you would with ordinary red wine. You have to be especially meticulous—first use the knife to remove the top, then use this special spiral corkscrew to pull out the cork. The movement must be gentle; if even a bit of debris falls into the wine, it will ruin the flavor.”

“So many details! No wonder it’s a famous wine. I’ve really learned something today.” Jessica Brooks acted like Robert Miller’s assistant, praising him at every turn.

The others, though not as obvious as Jessica Brooks, also started discussing it, their eyes full of anticipation, which made Robert Miller even more pleased with himself.

“Tch! Mistaking ignorance for fun—unbelievable!” An out-of-place voice suddenly interrupted.

Everyone stared in astonishment at the speaker. If Emily Cooper or David Clark had said this, they would have thought it was just the two of them targeting Robert Miller, but this time it was actually Yvonne Foster.

“Oh?” Robert Miller’s expression changed at first, but he quickly forced a smile and said, “Yvonne, I specifically learned this from a professional bartender. Do you think I’m doing it wrong?”

“I’m not saying your method is wrong, but you’re overlooking a lot of important things.”

“What important things?” Robert Miller frowned, but seeing Yvonne Foster’s smiling face, he couldn’t get angry.

Yvonne Foster smiled sweetly and said, “I’m not exactly sure what’s being overlooked, but I just feel that drinking Lafite here doesn’t seem quite right.”

“Yvonne, are you just teasing me? I may not be as good as a professional bartender, but at least my steps and technique aren’t bad.”

“Heh… How would I dare tease Boss Miller? But there’s someone here who understands this very well. If we let him explain, everything will become clear.”

“Who?” Robert Miller scanned all the classmates, but everyone looked confused, glancing around just like Robert Miller.

Emily Cooper also looked around but didn’t spot the person Yvonne Foster was referring to. Instinctively, she glanced at David Clark, only to see him frowning, a wry smile on his lips, meeting Yvonne Foster’s gaze.

This made Emily Cooper’s heart skip a beat. Could it be this usually old-fashioned David Clark beside her?

At this moment, Yvonne Foster was already walking over to Emily Cooper, first smiling at her and saying, “Emily, if you don’t mind, I’d like to ask your boyfriend to explain it to us, is that okay?” Her gaze was fixed on David Clark’s face, not moving an inch.

David Clark looked back at Yvonne Foster, his expression calm and natural, with a hint of a lazy smile at the corner of his mouth.

“What? Him…” Although she’d had the thought, hearing Yvonne Foster say it outright still made it hard for Emily Cooper to accept.

Jessica Brooks immediately curled her lip and shrilled, “Tch! With those cheap clothes, I bet he doesn’t even know what Lafite is, let alone explain it to us. What a joke, ha…”

But her laughter didn’t get any response from the others. Yvonne Foster’s gaze made everyone feel a bit uneasy. David Clark might be unremarkable, but he was Emily Cooper’s boyfriend, and now Yvonne Foster also seemed to know him. How could an ordinary man attract the attention of the two most beautiful women? He couldn’t be that simple.

This made Jessica Brooks’s laughter sound especially grating. After a couple of laughs, she felt awkward and shut her mouth, sulking as she looked at Robert Miller.

“David Clark, so you really are hiding your talents. Then please explain to us and broaden our horizons.” Robert Miller walked up to David Clark, placing the tools and wine in front of him.

David Clark smiled faintly and said, “Sorry, Miss Foster is mistaken. I don’t know a thing about Lafite.”

“See? I told you he’s nothing!” Jessica Brooks immediately chimed in. When a woman becomes as annoying as she was, her actions become downright brainless.

At this, Emily Cooper couldn’t hold back her anger. She’d been uncomfortable all evening, and now she suddenly stood up, yanked David Clark’s arm, and snapped, “David Clark, show them what you can do, so those blind fools won’t look down on you.”

“No need, right?” David Clark looked at Emily Cooper with a wry smile.
