Chapter 6

“Pfft!”

Emily Carter spat out a mouthful of blood and crashed heavily onto the plaza floor!

Even though she was wearing a combat suit, it still couldn’t offset the force of this blow. The canine demon had used its full strength with that kick, and Emily Carter felt her internal organs churning, her vision going black.

The remaining wild beasts all surrounded her, staring at Emily Carter from a distance. They were wary of the spirit energy longsword in Emily Carter’s hand, so they didn’t dare approach rashly.

“No, I have to escape quickly… This canine demon is definitely not a low-tier lord, it’s almost at the high-tier lord level. I’m no match for it at all!”

Emily Carter struggled to get up, but her body wouldn’t obey.

“What’s that saying you humans have? Oh right, ‘hide your strength and bide your time.’ If I hadn’t always concealed my true power, how could I have survived until now?”

A strange and sinister smile appeared on the canine demon’s face.

“After I eat you, I’ll have a chance to evolve to the next threshold. Hehehe… I can hardly wait!”

As the canine demon spoke, it began to slowly walk toward Emily Carter. Even when Emily Carter was in peak condition, her speed was nowhere near that of the canine demon—let alone now, when she was seriously injured.

“Damn it, looks like I have no choice but to use my last resort…” Emily Carter forced herself to stand.

“Burning my life force to gain power far beyond my own… Even if it costs me a few years of my life, it’s better than dying here…”

Watching the canine demon approach step by step, Emily Carter was ready to risk everything in a desperate fight.

Just then, a voice rang out.

“Hey, that’s enough.”

Both the canine demon and Emily Carter turned their heads and saw, not far away, Blake strolling over at a leisurely pace.

“Get out of here! You’re no match for it!” Emily Carter shouted anxiously.

“Hmph, another fool who doesn’t know their place.” The canine demon leapt, becoming a streak of light, and instantly appeared in front of Blake!

The katana slashed down fiercely!

Emily Carter was frantic with worry, and just as her attention was diverted, a wild beast bit down on her back!

Emily Carter let out a muffled groan, then swept her longsword horizontally, ignoring her injuries, and killed all the wild beasts that pounced at her!

But as a result, she coughed up several more mouthfuls of blood.

Emily Carter felt her strength slowly draining away. She looked up in the direction of the canine demon, only to be shocked to find that the scene of blood splattering everywhere hadn’t happened!

Blake was still standing there unharmed, even the cigarette in his mouth was still burning steadily.

As for that lightning-fast slash just now, it was as if nothing had happened at all!

Emily Carter’s vision darkened. Her strength had drained rapidly in that outburst, and finally, she collapsed to the ground, losing consciousness.

“I haven’t seen you in this city before. Are you new here?” Blake looked at the canine demon in front of him and said.

The canine demon didn’t reply. It stared at Blake, full of suspicion and uncertainty.

That slash just now had used almost all its strength, but this man had simply sidestepped lightly and dodged it with ease!

In fact, in the canine demon’s eyes, it was as if this man had teleported—because it hadn’t even seen his movement clearly!

A powerful sense of danger welled up in the canine demon’s heart.

Draw and slash!

The canine demon’s katana flashed like a bolt of lightning, slashing out with its strongest attack—spirit, strength, and skill all at their peak!

A chilling arc of light swept from lower left to upper right, forming a perfect curve. This was a slash that most human swordsmen wouldn’t even dare to imagine!

However, the slash never landed, because just as the blade left its sheath, a slender hand pressed down on the katana’s hilt.

It was like being crushed by a mountain—no matter how hard the canine demon tried, it couldn’t draw the blade!

“Leave now, and I’ll spare your life.” Blake said calmly.

“Roar!”

With all its strength, the canine demon’s eyes turned blood-red. Even though it couldn’t draw its sword, it still had a more powerful weapon—its fangs!

The canine demon opened its massive jaws, its head instantly transforming into that of a giant dog. Its gleaming white fangs, like rows of daggers, snapped down at Blake’s head!

Blake’s right hand was still pressing on the canine demon’s sword hilt, and at such close range, there was almost no way to dodge!

At the critical moment, Blake’s body bent backward at a bizarre angle, nearly 40 degrees, and the canine demon’s fangs grazed right past the tip of his nose.

The canine demon wanted to continue attacking, but its beastly instincts sent a chill down its spine!

Death!

The canine demon tried to retreat, but that slender hand gripped its wrist like an iron clamp.

Beneath the wine-red bangs, half of Blake’s face was hidden in shadow, filling the canine demon with an indescribable terror!

“Courting death.”

Blake raised his head, his gaze as cold as the Grim Reaper.

The canine demon tried to escape, but Blake’s left fist smashed into its chest like a cannonball!

Bones shattered, organs were pulverized, blood sprayed—flesh and bone fragments were blasted to pieces by the sheer force of that punch!
