Chapter 8

A figure dressed in a deep blue combat suit silently leapt down from the tall building across the street, clinging to the exterior of this building. He moved extremely quickly to the window outside the third-floor bedroom.

“Who?” Emily Carter said in a low voice.

The newcomer approached the bedroom window, allowing Emily Carter to see his face clearly.

Emily Carter frowned, but still opened the window and jumped out.

“William Foster, how did you know I was here?” Emily Carter asked.

Downstairs, the young man called William Foster tapped the watch on his wrist. “Tracking and positioning.”

“I hid my location,” Emily Carter said.

“A three-star hunter can use their privileges to check the location of all lower-ranked hunters. It’s for handling emergencies,” William Foster said.

“So annoying,” Emily Carter frowned.

“I heard you took on a dangerous hunt, so I was a bit worried,” William Foster said.

“Be honest,” Emily Carter shot him a look.

“Alright, actually, the AI detected the presence of a beast king–level wild beast nearby, so I came to check it out,” William Foster said.

“Beast king–level wild beast?” Emily Carter frowned.

“That’s right. Both Silver Watch and our Hunter Alliance have already sent people over. This place is indeed dangerous, so the young lady of the Zhou family should take care of herself,” William Foster said.

“I don’t need you to worry. I’m just fine, you’d better hurry up and get on with your own business,” Emily Carter said coldly.

“It’s been so long since we last met, and you still don’t have a kind word for me. Still, I think the two of us could make a pretty good team,” William Foster smiled.

“Young master of the Du family, if you’re looking to pick up girls, you’ve got the wrong person. It’s late, I’m going back to sleep.”

“Oh, and I already have a partner in mind, so give up on that idea,” Emily Carter said.

“Hm? Who?” William Foster was quite surprised.

“The guy sleeping in the living room,” Emily Carter said.

“Pfft, him? Is he an Awakened? Judging by that scrawny frame, I doubt he could even handle a wolf-level wild beast,” William Foster mocked.

Emily Carter rolled her eyes and ignored William Foster, jumping straight up to the third floor.

“If you run into a powerful wild beast nearby, make sure you run for it, got it?” William Foster said.

Emily Carter paid him no mind, shutting the window tightly.

“This girl…” William Foster shook his head, turned, and leapt away at high speed.

Hearing William Foster gradually leave, Blake closed his eyes again.

Daylight gradually brightened.

“Mmm, that was a good sleep.” Emily Carter sat up in bed and stretched lazily.

Bright sunlight streamed in from outside the window, filling the whole room with warmth. The aroma of food was already wafting from the kitchen.

“I really got some good rest; my injuries are almost healed.”

Emily Carter got out of bed. She wasn’t wearing her white combat suit, just the inner lining of it. Her hair was no longer tied up, but hung loosely over her shoulders.

If the combat suit was like a jacket, then the inner lining was like thermal underwear, mainly for warmth and cushioning.

This gave Emily Carter an extra touch of lazy, homely beauty.

Breakfast was already set on the table: fried eggs, milk, bread, fruit.

“Did you sleep well last night?” Emily Carter sat down at the table.

“Pretty well,” Blake nodded, placing the last plate of sliced apples on the table.

Emily Carter was already eating heartily.

“Silver Watch has already issued an alert, saying a beast king–level wild beast has appeared near this area. Come with me to Hanhai City to take shelter,” Emily Carter said.

“Beast king–level?” Blake raised an eyebrow slightly.

“Yeah. Early yesterday morning, the AI officially sent an alert to Silver Watch and the Hunter Alliance, detecting the life signs of a beast king–level wild beast nearby,” Emily Carter explained.

“Is it accurate?” Blake still sounded rather nonchalant.

“Of course, the AI never makes mistakes. If this beast king–level wild beast reaches Hanhai City, it’ll be a catastrophic disaster.”

“That’s why both the Hunter Alliance and Silver Watch have already dispatched many experts, hoping to intercept it in advance. If nothing unexpected happens, this place will soon become a battlefield.”

There was a note of seriousness in Emily Carter’s voice as well.

“I’d actually like to see what a beast king–level wild beast looks like.”

Blake spread some ketchup on a slice of bread and rolled up a fried egg.

“Hey, don’t go looking for death. Beast king–level wild beasts are not something we can afford to mess with!”

“What’s more, these beast king–level wild beasts are often accompanied by terrifying beast tides. If you get caught up in one, even a four-star hunter would have a hard time surviving!”

Seeing that Blake showed no sense of crisis at all, Emily Carter anxiously tapped the table.

“Mm.” Blake nodded, though it was unclear if he was really listening.

Generally speaking, wild beasts act alone, but there are exceptions.

Lord-level wild beasts can often gather anywhere from hundreds to thousands of wild beasts, while beast king–level wild beasts can gather tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands!
