Chapter 7

The dog demon watched helplessly as its own body, under that punch, turned into a pool of blood!

Centered on the dog demon’s position, a massive, blood-soaked fan shape spread across most of the square!

In the end, only the dog demon’s head was left, flying high into the air before crashing heavily to the ground. Its eyes were still filled with terror and disbelief!

“Do you really have to force me to solve problems with violence?”

Blake looked at the corpse on the ground with some distaste and tossed the spent cigarette at his feet.

Chapter 5 King-level Wild Beast

Emily Carter opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was the back of Blake in the kitchen.

A wave of porridge aroma drifted over.

Emily Carter tried to sit up, but her abdomen still ached faintly. She felt weak all over, and her spirits were low.

However, she was now lying on the sofa in Blake’s home, not that cold little square.

“That dog demon!”

Emily Carter suddenly recalled the scene before she fainted. She only remembered the dog demon charging at Blake, but after that, she couldn’t remember anything.

“What happened to that dog demon? Are you okay?” Emily Carter asked.

“You’re awake? Lie down a bit longer. That dog demon is already dead.” Blake had finished cooking the porridge and was serving it into bowls.

“Dead? How did it die? Was it you...”

“Just so happened that two powerful guys from a nearby military base came over and took care of it. I saw there was nothing left for me to do, so I brought you back.”

Blake placed the bowl of porridge on the coffee table in the living room and went back to the kitchen to wash his hands.

“Is that so? That’s good... I was careless this time, didn’t expect that dog demon to be so strong. But, it seems you managed to block a few of its attacks, right?”

Emily Carter leaned sideways on the sofa.

“Yeah, blocked a few moves.” Blake sat on the sofa beside her.

“To be able to do that on your first awakening, that’s impressive,” Emily Carter said.

“Drink the porridge before it gets cold,” Blake reminded her.

Emily Carter picked up the bowl of porridge from the table, scooped a spoonful, blew on it twice, and put it in her mouth.

“Mmm, delicious!”

Although it looked like an ordinary vegetable porridge, it had a unique flavor. After blowing on it a few times, Emily Carter started gulping down the whole bowl, finishing it completely.

“Aren’t you eating?” Emily Carter asked, her mouth still full of a couple of vegetable leaves.

“My appetite is very small,” Blake replied with a smile.

“Then you can make more in the future. If you can’t finish it, I’ll take care of the rest!”

Emily Carter put the empty bowl back on the coffee table, lay back contentedly, and let out a satisfied burp.

Blake went back to the kitchen to wash the dishes.

“Hey, how about being my partner?” Emily Carter said.

“Partner?”

“Yes, as a two-star hunter, I can have a partner slot. As long as I apply, you can skip the review and become a trainee hunter directly. How about it?” Emily Carter said.

“Why choose me?”

“Because your cooking is too good! Ahem, actually, that’s not the only reason. Mainly, your skills are impressive too. Why stay in this deserted little city?” Emily Carter said.

“I’ve said before, probably because I’m a rather solitary person,” Blake said.

“That’s fine. Hunters are different from national organizations—they’re very free. You won’t be restricted at all. As long as you make hunting wild beasts your mission, you can become a hunter.”

Emily Carter said animatedly.

“I can tell you really like your job. But for me, money, status, power—none of that is appealing,” Blake said calmly.

“You really are strange... Every awakened person should want to contribute to humanity, right? Why do you seem so negative?” Emily Carter asked in confusion.

Blake didn’t answer.

“All right, I know everyone has things they don’t want to talk about. Since that’s the case, I won’t ask anymore,” Emily Carter said.

“It’s already late, you should get some rest. You’re injured, so tonight you can sleep in the bed,” Blake said.

“I’m fine, spiritual power can heal my internal injuries. I’m already much better. By tomorrow morning, I should be fully recovered,” Emily Carter said.

“So, do you want to sleep in the bed or not?”

“Yes!” Emily Carter made a funny face, hummed, and scrambled off the sofa, dashing into the bedroom.

Blake took a quilt from the cabinet and lay down on the sofa.

Late at night.

Clouds covered the moon, and the whole city was shrouded in deep darkness.

Within nearly a hundred meters around the building where Blake lived, all wild beasts kept their distance. If you looked closely, you’d find that near the boundary of this area, there were remains and corpses of wild beasts everywhere.

Among them were even the remains of many lord-level and even beast king-level wild beasts!

Any wild beast that saw these remains would feel a soul-deep terror and carefully avoid this area!

Emily Carter slept soundly, even forgetting she was in the ruins of a city overrun by wild beasts.

On the sofa, Blake suddenly opened his eyes.
