Emily Carter pouted a little in frustration, but truly had nothing to refute. She thought for a moment, then said, “Then, can I leave a message for my friend?”

The middle-aged man nodded. “You can.”

Emily Carter opened the electronic screen in Blake’s room and typed a message on it.

“Let’s go.”

The middle-aged man spoke, then with a few leaps, crossed to the rooftop of the building opposite and slipped into a small aircraft parked there.

Emily Carter looked longingly at the distant battlefield and whispered, “Blake, you mustn’t die…”

In the sky, the battlefield raged as four Awakened were locked in fierce combat!

Henry Sutton’s long robe was already covered in tears. Though the invisible energy shield could protect his body, it had drained too much of his strength.

The Black Raven wasn’t faring well either. He had already taken several blows from Henry Sutton; though his armor could block blades, it couldn’t withstand Henry Sutton’s internal force, leaving his organs churning.

Below the battlefield, the corpses of Ironfeather Crows had piled up like mountains, and many that weren’t quite dead yet struggled, trying to flap their wings and take flight.

Liam fired another arrow. In her quiver, only a dozen or so arrows remained.

“Is it still not over…”

Liam frowned deeply, realizing the situation was dire.

According to the intel they’d received, The Black Raven was supposed to have only recently advanced to Beast King level. The four of them working together to take down a low-tier Beast King shouldn’t have been a problem.

But only now did Liam realize that this The Black Raven was by no means a low-tier Beast King—he was very likely a mid-tier Beast King from the moment he advanced!

Chapter 8: Before Death

Their misjudgment of the situation had thrown everyone into a dire predicament.

“My mech is about to give out!” Cassie said anxiously.

The Black Raven had also realized that the key to Henry Sutton being able to fight him in the air was Cassie’s mech. Once the mech went down, Henry Sutton would lose his foothold and be powerless to resist.

So, The Black Raven began directing the Ironfeather Crow flock to attack Cassie’s mech with reckless abandon. At this point, Cassie’s mech was already severely damaged and could crash at any moment.

“You retreat first!” Henry Sutton swatted down an Ironfeather Crow and called to Cassie.

“But, Mr. Situ, you—”

“No need to worry about this old man!”

Henry Sutton, suspended in midair, actually stepped on the back of an Ironfeather Crow, leaping up once more to attack The Black Raven.

Cassie’s mech was in tatters; she could only pilot it away at top speed.

Meanwhile, Henry Sutton radiated a faint blue energy from his entire body, using the Ironfeather Crows as stepping stones to launch a frenzied assault amidst the flock!

“This old guy—does he want to die with me?!”

Even The Black Raven couldn’t help but show a trace of fear!

Henry Sutton’s entire body shone brightly, his muscles bulging slightly—a sign of externalizing his power!

“Thousandfold Phantom Palm!!”

With a low roar, countless pale blue palm shadows swirled around Henry Sutton. At this moment, he looked like a thousand-armed Buddha, with layer upon layer of palm shadows striking toward The Black Raven!

The Black Raven shrieked, crossing his arms in front of him. His front was instantly covered in a thick layer of black keratin.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

Thunderous booms echoed nonstop as countless pale blue palm shadows battered The Black Raven like a torrential storm. Even though The Black Raven had prepared his defenses, he was still tossed about like a lone boat in a tempest!

“Pff!” The Black Raven spat out a mouthful of blood.

Henry Sutton’s body plummeted downward.

The Ironfeather Crow flock no longer dared provoke Henry Sutton, fearing he’d use them as stepping stones to return and kill again. In a flash, they all scattered.

But this gave Liam a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

A blazing red arrow shot across the sky like a meteor, flames roaring along its shaft, striking The Black Raven’s left wing dead on!

Hit by the arrow, The Black Raven let out a shrill scream, but then did something no one expected.

He suddenly dove, using his talons at lightning speed to seize Henry Sutton in midair!

Sharp claws pierced Henry Sutton’s shoulders, locking his arms tightly. Then, the Ironfeather Crow flock threw themselves at Liam and William Foster on the rooftop, surrounding them completely!

“Mr. Situ!!” Liam shouted anxiously, but The Black Raven was already flying north with Henry Sutton in his grasp!

“You damned old man—”

The Black Raven’s figure was already faltering. He had pulled the arrow from his left wing, but his injuries were so severe that he could barely keep flying.

Henry Sutton clung desperately to The Black Raven’s ankle, blood constantly seeping from the corner of his mouth.

After unleashing the Thousandfold Phantom Palm with all his might, Henry Sutton could no longer maintain his protective energy, and his shoulders had been pierced by The Black Raven’s talons.

Losing blood continuously, Henry Sutton was holding on by sheer willpower.

“I could have soon advanced to high-tier Beast King, maybe even broken through to Beast Emperor in time! All because of you, you damned old man—”

The Black Raven growled through gritted teeth, his talons digging even harder into Henry Sutton’s shoulders.

Henry Sutton grunted in pain, but then burst out laughing: “Cough, cough… You beast, after suffering such heavy injuries today, I’m afraid you’ll never have the chance to become a high-tier Beast King again, will you?”
