"Got your eye on her?" Amanda Lincoln said with a hint of mockery. Without waiting for Jason Carter to answer, she got off the motorcycle, slung her small backpack over her shoulder, walked into the school gate, and pouted, "Don't get your hopes up."
Chapter 3: The Peerless Beauties (Part 2)
"Hi." Jason Carter parked his motorcycle and greeted Catherine Newman, "Did you walk here again?"
"Yeah." Catherine Newman gave Jason Carter a faint smile, but didn't stop walking.
Jason Carter watched her back as she walked farther and farther away, but he didn't move.
"This must be what they call a devilish figure," Jason Carter thought to himself.
"Don't forget your place." Suddenly, a cold voice sounded in Jason Carter's ear.
He turned his head and saw Langley's proud yet angry, disdainful yet cold face. Staring into Jason Carter's eyes, he said, "You pose no threat to me, I don't care about you at all. But I really dislike anyone getting close to Catherine, especially those with toad-like ambitions. If you get close to her again, breathe the air she breathes out, touch her clothes or her skin, I'll make you disappear from this world. I mean what I say."
With that, he didn't spare Jason Carter another glance and strode away.
"Wow, so handsome." Behind him, a group of girls looked on with starry, love-struck eyes.
"Damn, I was just secretly crushing on her without any real intentions, not even sure if I really liked her. But now that you've threatened me, I just have to go after her." Jason Carter was instantly furious. Staring at Catherine Newman's sexy, alluring back, he made up his mind: "I'm going to go against you, just to see that arrogant look wiped off your face."
※※※
For the remaining month, there were hardly any proper classes at school; most of the time, students were left to study on their own.
Jason Carter was daydreaming alone when he suddenly caught a whiff of a unique fragrance, followed by a commotion in the classroom.
Looking up, he found himself face-to-face with Catherine Newman's incredibly sexy waist. Looking further up, there was her stunning, perky chest, and above that, her dazzling, captivating face.
"I need to talk to him," Catherine Newman said to Bryan Taylor, who was Jason Carter's deskmate.
Bryan Taylor stared blankly at Catherine Newman, not reacting at all, and the whole class looked on in disbelief.
Catherine Newman almost never took the initiative to talk to any boy, especially during class.
Jason Carter nudged the empty seat nearby and said, "Hey, see that spot over there?"
Bryan Taylor nodded blankly, "I see it."
"It's cooler over there, go sit there," Jason Carter said.
"Oh." Bryan Taylor got up and walked to the empty seat, as if possessed.
Filled with wild thoughts, Jason Carter turned to Catherine Newman and asked, "What's up?"
"What did Langley say to you?" Catherine Newman asked.
Jason Carter was admiring Catherine Newman's beautiful waist and hips as she sat down, but her question instantly cooled his mood. "You came to me just for that?"
"Yeah," Catherine Newman replied.
"Oh!" Jason Carter said dejectedly, "He told me to stay away from you, or he'd make me disappear."
Catherine Newman frowned, sat quietly for a moment, then said, "Then you should stay away from me."
Jason Carter's brows shot up and he said angrily, "I'm not afraid of him. He wants me to stay away from you, but I won't. In fact, I'll get even closer..."
With that, Jason Carter demonstratively leaned in a little, and Catherine Newman frowned slightly and leaned back.
Her reaction annoyed Jason Carter, and after hesitating, he asked, "You... what's your relationship with him? Are you two dating?"
Catherine Newman stared at Jason Carter for a while before answering, "That's none of your business."
"How is it none of my business? If you two aren't dating, then I won't hold back," Jason Carter said.
Catherine Newman's brows furrowed again in displeasure.
Jason Carter, seeing her expression, felt uncomfortable, so he simply stopped looking at her face and focused on her sexy lips. "If you two are dating, then... then I definitely won't hold back."
"Are you serious about this?" Catherine Newman asked sternly.
Jason Carter nodded, "Very serious. As serious as can be."
"Then let me give you a word of advice: don't do this. It's absolutely impossible," Catherine Newman said.
"Why is it impossible?" Jason Carter hadn't really planned on pursuing Catherine Newman, but her dismissive words made him act on impulse.
"My boyfriend has to be extremely outstanding, one in a million in every way," Catherine Newman said proudly, then stood up to leave.
That proud, disdainful attitude deeply wounded Jason Carter. He couldn't hold back and called after her retreating figure, "Then tell me, what does it take to be qualified to pursue you?"
As soon as he said this—and in a voice that wasn't quiet—the whole class erupted. Even the homeroom teacher up front stared at Jason Carter in shock. Time seemed to freeze, and then the expressions of the classmates instantly became complicated.
A few looked at Jason Carter with sympathy and a sense of tragedy, most with disdain and contempt, and a small number looked at him as if he were an idiot.
