Chapter 17

Now, Jason Carter had only one thought: absolutely not to break down before Bryan Taylor. Over there, Bryan Taylor had the same idea, so even though both of them were trembling and nearly in tears, they stubbornly held on.

Not far away, Lillian Grant saw everything clearly and couldn’t help but curl her lips—so that’s all it is.

“Ah!” In the end, it was Jason Carter who couldn’t hold out first. His butt sank down, first came a sharp pain, then a jolt of electricity shot through his body.

“Ah!” Jason Carter immediately let out a pig-like scream, his whole body shaking violently, his hair standing on end in an instant, and there was even the smell of burning flesh.

The pain was simply hellish.

“Haha.” Bryan Taylor laughed, “You still can’t beat me… ah…”

He hadn’t finished speaking when he too let out a pig-like wail, his whole body starting to convulse, hair standing up, flesh burning, and even drool flying out. This electric current wouldn’t kill, but it could make someone suffer so much they’d wish for death, a pain that cut to the bone and would never be forgotten.

The trainees practicing nearby immediately stopped, laughing loudly at the two’s sorry state.

“Trash is just trash.” James Walker sneered.

The current lasted only 20 seconds, but to Jason Carter it felt like 20 years. When it stopped, Bryan Taylor collapsed directly to the ground.

But Jason Carter didn’t move at all, not even showing the slightest sign of the previous soreness and pain, as if he had just started the horse stance. Lillian Grant noticed too—after being shocked, Jason Carter’s horse stance was much more standard than before, practically textbook perfect.

That wasn’t all—the key was that his body could remain completely motionless. Not to mention Jason Carter was just a beginner, even a martial artist with years of training couldn’t possibly stay so still in a horse stance.

But Jason Carter truly didn’t move at all, like a statue.

Lillian Grant was utterly amazed and immediately brought over a stack of large bowls and a big jug of water. She placed the bowls on the backs of Jason Carter’s hands, and he still didn’t move a muscle. Then, Lillian Grant filled two bowls to the brim with water, so full they were about to overflow.

Still, Jason Carter’s body didn’t move at all.

Lillian Grant was astonished and, for the first time, looked closely at Jason Carter’s face.

In that instant, she was immediately captivated by it. Because at this moment, Jason Carter seemed like a different person—though it was the same face, the cold and indifferent expression really made him look like a statue. Lillian Grant even felt as if there was a metallic sheen flowing over his features—of course, this was just a psychological impression, not something she could actually see.

Lillian Grant felt a slight flutter in her heart, then placed two more large bowls on Jason Carter’s arms, also filling them with water. Jason Carter still didn’t move at all, and the water in the bowls didn’t ripple in the slightest.

Next, all the trainees present were deeply shocked. For a full half hour, Jason Carter didn’t move a single bit, as if he were cast from steel and fixed to the ground.

“All right, you don’t need to do the horse stance anymore.” Lillian Grant sighed, thinking to herself, “Could there really be such a thing as a genius in this world?”

Jason Carter instantly relaxed inside, and his face returned to its usual lazy, mischievous look.

“Come with me.” Lillian Grant said to Jason Carter, then walked straight out of the room.

Jason Carter stared at her sexy, alluring waist and hips as he followed her out.

Chapter 5 Genius (Part 1)

Lillian Grant led Jason Carter to the rooftop balcony of the martial arts school. The balcony was about fifty square meters, floored with wooden boards, and surrounded by potted flowers and plants.

“Tell me the truth—have you ever practiced combat arts before? Whether it’s martial arts, karate, taekwondo, or anything like that?” Lillian Grant fixed her gaze on Jason Carter and asked.

Jason Carter shook his head. “No.”

While speaking, Lillian Grant’s eyes were locked on Jason Carter.

Lillian Grant’s gaze was both sexy and sharp; under such eyes, it was really hard to lie, especially for a young person with little life experience.

“Then why did you come here to learn martial arts? And you said you might only study for five days to a month.” Lillian Grant said.

“Because in five days, I have to duel someone. If I lose, he’ll cripple me—he’s extremely ruthless.” Jason Carter said.

Lillian Grant frowned. “What’s his name? How strong is he?”

“His name is Samuel Langley, and I think he won fourth place in the Eastern Region Combat Tournament.” Jason Carter said.

“Him?” Lillian Grant’s frown deepened.

“You know him?” Jason Carter asked in surprise.

“Yeah, he’s very famous.” Lillian Grant said.

“Is he really that strong?” Jason Carter asked in shock.

“Yeah, very strong. But he’s famous not because of his strength, but because he’s extremely vicious, cunning, and cold-blooded. Even those ranked higher than him can end up seriously injured. Even in friendly matches, broken bones and torn tendons are common. Plus, his family background is powerful, so now, martial artists throughout the province are reluctant to face him.” Lillian Grant said, “He’s the most outstanding heir of the side branch of the Linghu family. Whether in academics, martial arts, or political maneuvering, he’s one in a million. Basically, within ten years, his name will be among the top experts in our Haitang Nation.”
