Chapter 19

“It doesn’t seem like there’s any problem, but what did that person just say? Did anyone understand?” Sharon Shaw still asked with some concern.

“I’ve watched foreign TV shows before and heard that kind of intonation. I think it’s Eresa language?” a girl who liked watching TV series replied. “As for what it means, I have no idea.”

“But that guy was wearing a Kelsey suit just now. I saw the logo and pattern.” Emily Hall said with a smile. She was very familiar with these luxury brands, so she recognized it at a glance.

“Could it be that after all this time, Brother William is actually some rich second generation?” Daniel Carter joked.

“You never know.” Emily Hall laughed.

“Are Kelsey suits really expensive for a full set?” Andrew Smith wasn’t very familiar with these things. She’d heard of some women’s brands, but really didn’t know much about men’s brands.

“A basic set costs at least fifty thousand.” Emily Hall mentioned casually.

Andrew Smith’s breath caught slightly.

Fifty thousand??!

Her monthly salary was just over six thousand, and a single suit was almost her entire year’s income.

What kind of outrageous brand is this?

She quickly lowered her head and took out her phone to check. Sure enough, among the world’s top men’s clothing brands, she found Kelsey.

It was a relatively niche first-tier brand, different from the other brands favored by many celebrities.

This brand had always kept a low profile, and its high price was due to the extremely expensive raw materials.

After looking up the information, Andrew Smith appeared nonchalant on the surface, but inside, her curiosity about William Carter grew.

“But I saw that foreigner was very polite to Brother William just now.” a young girl said in surprise.

“All right, all right, let’s just ask Brother William directly when he comes back. No more guessing, let’s eat!” Daniel Carter quickly called everyone over on behalf of William Carter.

Although the idle speculation was interrupted, Andrew Smith lowered her head, her eyes flickering, and a vague new thought arose in her heart.

She had always kept herself pure, just to wait for the right price. The reason she was so focused on climbing social circles was to change her life through marriage.

Looking at things now, if it weren’t for the unexpected event of William Carter being sought out by that foreigner, after dinner when everyone parted ways, no one would have known he was hiding so much.

Andrew Smith’s thoughts were clear. Her relationship with William Carter was average, but this was an extremely rare opportunity.

She faintly sensed that the level William Carter was hiding might be the highest she’d ever had access to.

With such an opportunity right in front of her, so close it could shatter with a touch, she couldn’t help but feel a little restless.

She still remembered back in college, working hard at part-time jobs for a long, long time, just to save up for a bag she liked.

Until one day, she suddenly saw the girl in her class she never got along with, casually carrying that very handbag, chatting easily with others.

From that moment, she completely lost interest in that bag.

She could never forget the look in that girl’s eyes.

Maybe the other girl had no idea she liked that bag too, but in her eyes, every glance from that girl felt like a knife cutting into her.

From then on, she decided she had to completely change her fate.

……

……

William Carter walked out of the private room with the blond, slicked-back man, surrounded by two bald, burly men, slowly leaving the restaurant.

With such a scene, not only people he knew, but even the diners coming and going, as well as the waiters and manager, were all alarmed, coming out to watch.

William Carter didn’t care. At this point, since the other party had come looking for him, there was no way to avoid it. He might as well face it calmly.

Shielded by the others, he quietly walked to the car, opened the door, and got into the back seat, sitting right next to the middle-aged man.

“You wanted to see me?” William Carter tried to keep his tone steady and asked calmly.

His phone kept vibrating, but he didn’t have time to check it now.

“I thought you’d run away.” Christian Lane smiled, showing a strange expression.

“I just went back to my hometown for a bit.” William Carter shrugged.

“I heard you’ve mobilized people again. I have a meeting here, so I stopped by to check in. Since you’re fine, I won’t bother you.” Christian Lane smiled.

“Are you really that kind?” According to the information William Carter had, this middle-aged man in front of him was no saint. He was like an old wolf looking for an opportunity—once he spotted a weakness, he’d pounce in a flash, never letting go.

This was also his first time interacting with one of the big shots in the group. The department the other man controlled was a relatively important R&D division. Although not as powerful as the security department, it still had considerable influence.

“I need your help.” Christian Lane said softly. “About Granvo, I need an elite team to escort some key items. My people aren’t strong enough.”

“Heh, why should I help you?” William Carter sneered.

“I can help you. So if you help me, isn’t that even better?” Christian Lane smiled.

He seemed to be reminiscing, or perhaps regretting something.
