Chapter 7

"****You bastards, you bunch of idiots, what are you all standing around for!" Seeing his subordinates frozen in place, the assassin leader was so frustrated he almost wanted to slit his own throat.

Relying on this bunch really is unreliable. Though he was complaining, his hands didn't dare slow down for a second.

"You morons, follow me, now!" Reaching for the dagger at his waist, the assassin leader charged forward at the front.

"Woof woof~~" The hunting dog that had always stayed by the assassin leader's side barked madly, following close behind him.

Under the assassin leader's command, all the assassins surged forward once again.

Ethan Brooks quietly leaned against the wall; if he didn't have the wall to support him, he would barely have the strength to stand.

Seeing the burly man standing in front of him, Ethan Brooks couldn't help but feel a warmth in his heart. Although this giant's loyalty was to another boy who had already died, that didn't stop Ethan Brooks from feeling goodwill toward him—he was a true man.

"Are you afraid of death?" Ethan Brooks grinned at the burly captain.

"A little, young lord," the burly captain George Washington chuckled, not hiding his feelings at all. "Mainly, I feel like dying here would be a bit of a waste."

"Then, from now on, let's kill without holding back." Ethan Brooks gritted his teeth. "From now on, killing one breaks even, killing two is a profit."

"Young lord, I like the sound of that," the burly captain turned his head and grinned. "The old you would never have said something like that."

"Everyone grows up eventually." Ethan Brooks stomped on the snow beneath his feet.

"Let's give it everything we've got."

Ethan Brooks straightened up. Even if he was going to die, Ethan Brooks refused to just sit and wait for death. The moonlight cast Ethan Brooks's not-so-tall figure on the snowy ground, along with seven shadows encircling him like stars around the moon.

The charging assassins suddenly felt that these eight people, who looked like they could be blown over by the wind, now seemed as unscalable as the towering Moore Mountains…………

Chapter 4: Peerless Beauty, Beauty Saves the Hero

Seeing the silver-armored swordsmen gather around Ethan Brooks, the assassin leader let out a sinister laugh: "Heh heh, do you really think a few half-dead guys huddling together can do anything? Let me show you what true despair is. Devourer Hound!"

"Woof woof~~" The hunting dog that had always run by his side let out a sharp bark.

This seemingly ordinary hunting dog was the assassin leader's final trump card. Now he felt it was time to reveal it.

"Roar~~" After a bout of wild barking, the hunting dog suddenly stood up on two legs and let out a roar that didn't match its body. Then, with a series of popping sounds, the little dog's body swelled up like popcorn, transforming into a giant beast five meters tall.

"A fierce beast? Damn it!" The vice-captain standing in front of Ethan Brooks cursed. Only a fierce beast could freely change its size like that.

Fierce beasts are a kind of mutated wild animal. No one knows how they mutated. Their signature ability is to shrink their bodies at will, then rapidly grow back to their original size in battle.

It's said that some powerful fierce beasts can easily destroy a hundred-man infantry squad.

However, wild powerful fierce beasts can't be tamed. So, the powerful fierce beasts humans have managed to raise are basically all obtained at great cost as cubs from the wild, then trained. Though these tamed fierce beasts aren't as ferocious as their wild counterparts, they're still formidable.

As a result, not just anyone can afford to raise a powerful fierce beast. And yet these assassins actually have one?

Among powerful fierce beasts, the Devourer Hound isn't considered especially formidable—at best, it's mid-tier.

But to deal with these seven battered silver-armored swordsmen, it's more than enough.

"Roar~~" With a strange howl, the giant dog, now standing upright, hunched its massive body, then shot past the seven silver-armored swordsmen like a fully drawn bow, heading straight for Ethan Brooks.

"Son of a bitch." Ethan Brooks cursed fiercely. But he wasn't wrong—the beast in front of him was, after all, a dog, so calling it a son of a bitch was perfectly accurate.

"Devourer Hound, well done. Take that boy out directly." The assassin leader grinned savagely, as if he could already see countless gold coins raining from the sky, burying him in happiness.

Roar~~ The Devourer Hound let out a roar, its bloody maw reeking with a foul stench. Its massive body instantly pinned Ethan Brooks to the ground.

Ethan Brooks instinctively reached out to try to hold off the giant dog, but the difference in strength between man and beast was immediately obvious.

It was like a pitiful little girl meeting a creepy old man, then being ruthlessly pushed down by him. At this moment, Ethan Brooks was just like that pitiful little girl being pushed down—except, after being pushed down, the little girl might still have a chance to live, but for Ethan Brooks, being pushed down meant certain death.

"Bite off his head!" the assassin leader shouted excitedly.

The Devourer Hound roared, opened its jaws, and bit down at Ethan Brooks's head.
