“No need to say goodbye, Brother-in-law. I hope we never meet again.” Grace Bennett secured Ethan Brooks on her back and spoke.
“Wait a moment.” The middle-aged man in black armor gave a bitter smile and took out half of a metal pendant from his chest. It seemed to be a round pendant, but for some reason, only half remained.
“Give this to Ethan.” LordRobert Parker said, “It belonged to his mother.”
The elderly Butler in a tailcoat beside Grace Bennett stepped forward cautiously and took the pendant from the Lord of Fallen City.
On this half-pendant, there was a flower pattern—the moon fox flower. The moon fox flower is a famous blossom on the Aegean continent. It is cultivated by the fox women of the Beast Tribe Alliance; although it is also well-known among humans, it is not something ordinary people can afford to enjoy.
After confirming there was no danger, the old Butler handed the half-pendant to Grace Bennett.
Seeing this action, LordRobert Parker felt a pang of bitterness in his heart. This time, Grace Bennett had completely lost trust in him.
“Well then, let’s not say goodbye.” Grace Bennett lifted her skirt with both hands and performed a farewell curtsy. She did not ask LordRobert Parker what the pendant represented, nor did she intend to. She had decided to sever all ties with Fallen City, and gently placed the pendant into the arms of the Young Man.
“Grace, at least let Ethan have his wounds bandaged, can’t you?” The Lord looked at his battered Son and pleaded.
“No need, Brother-in-law.” Grace Bennett replied softly, “I can handle these wounds myself.”
With that, she never looked back and slowly walked away into the distance.
“Well then, good night, Lord of the City.” The old Butler also bowed, then stepped forward and whispered into the Lord’s ear, “And tell that ungrateful woman to be glad that Young Master is unharmed. Otherwise, I would make the entire Fallen City pay with their lives for Young Master—including her wretched life, and your noble bloodline, Lord.”
A chill ran through LordRobert Parker’s heart. He knew the old Butler was not joking in the slightest.
“Well then, once again, good night, Lord of the City. May you have a pleasant dream tonight.” The old Butler smiled faintly, just as always, and closely followed behind Grace Bennett.
The three of them slowly disappeared from everyone’s sight.
The Lord could only watch their departing figures with deep bitterness. Pleasant dreams? Tonight would surely be a sleepless night.
“Lord, why didn’t you keep them here?” The captain of the black-armored swordsmen asked in confusion as he watched the extremely arrogant departure of Grace Bennett and the old Butler.
“Keep them? My ass! Damn it, you lot—hundreds of you—aren’t even worth a single finger to those people.” The burly captain of the silver-armored swordsmen was already furious with the black-armored group. Now, as soon as the black-armored captain spoke, the Giant Captain cursed harshly. He held nothing but contempt for these useless, tardy bastards.
“George Washington, what do you mean by that?” The captain of the black-armored guards shouted angrily.
“Exactly what I said, you bunch of useless bastards.” Giant CaptainGeorge Washington unleashed a night’s worth of pent-up anger on the black-armored captain.
“Damn your mother, George Washington, what do you want?!” The black-armored captain, also a muscular man, wielded a giant axe as big as a cartwheel.
“Bring it on! I’m not afraid of shit!” Giant Captain hefted his door-sized greatsword.
“Enough!” LordRobert Parker clenched his fist and roared, cutting off his two subordinates’ actions. Why couldn’t these muscleheads understand his mood as Lord right now? He just wanted to hack these two idiots to pieces.
Giant Captain glared hatefully at his equally burly opponent and snorted coldly, reluctantly stopping the quarrel.
“Lord, should we follow Young Master?” The slightly thin vice-captain of the silver-armored swordsmen spoke up calmly. He wasn’t sure whether to follow Young Master or stay.
“You all stay here for now.” At the mention of this, LordRobert Parker seemed to age all at once. “Please take care of the place where Young Master used to live. I’ll do my best to find a way to get you back to Young Master’s side.”
At the very least, he had to try to communicate with Grace Bennett and see if he could send these loyal subordinates over. After all, they had always followed his Son, and Grace Bennett would probably agree.
“Yes.” The seven silver-armored swordsmen nodded vigorously…………

Chapter 9: From Today On, You Shall Be Called Ethan Brooks
Between closing and opening his eyes, it felt like a century had passed.
Ethan Brooks didn’t know how long he had been unconscious this time. In any case, he was lucky to regain consciousness once more.
After feeling some strength return, Ethan Brooks slowly opened his eyes.
Almost immediately, the dazzling light forced him to shut them again.
At that moment, a slender hand gently covered his eyes.
“Open your eyes slowly. You haven’t opened them for a long time, so you’re not used to it. Don’t be afraid.” The voice was soft and somewhat familiar.
With the woman’s help, Ethan Brooks opened his eyes.
Then, Ethan Brooks saw a silver-haired woman sitting beside him, the two of them very close.
It was the first time Ethan Brooks had ever looked at a woman from such a close distance—she was beautiful.
