Ethan Brooks smelled the foul stench from the Sky-Devouring Dog’s mouth and immediately felt waves of nausea. A dizzying sensation surged over him.
Now, it was impossible for the seven battered silver-armored swordsmen to turn back and save Ethan Brooks.
“I wonder, if you die enough times, will you get used to it?” Ethan Brooks mocked himself.
His vision began to blur—an aftereffect of excessive blood loss. The Sky-Devouring Dog’s massive jaws started to close in, and everyone felt certain that this time Ethan Brooks was doomed.
However, just as both the silver-armored swordsmen and Ethan Brooks were about to despair, a slender, fair hand appeared out of thin air, pressing against the Sky-Devouring Dog’s head. Bathed in moonlight, the exposed hand emerging from the sleeve looked like the most perfect masterpiece of the heavens.
Then, with an upward push, the hand forced the Sky-Devouring Dog’s head back. The beast’s upper and lower jaws, which had been about to snap shut, clamped together with a vicious force—biting nothing but air.
That push also pulled Ethan Brooks back from the gates of death.
Who saved me? Ethan Brooks struggled to shift his gaze toward the owner of that fair arm.
Unfortunately, Ethan Brooks’s vision was growing even blurrier, everything turning into a white haze. Vaguely, he saw the back of a woman in a pale yellow long dress.
It was a breathtaking silhouette.
So beautiful that even just her back was stunning!
Her hair, like a silver waterfall, cascaded down her back. The silvery-white hair mirrored the endless snowy landscape. Ethan Brooks suddenly felt as if this beautiful snowy scene existed solely for this woman before him.
“Beast, get out of here!” she scolded in a low, clear voice.
She stepped forward slightly with her left foot, reached out again, and struck the Sky-Devouring Dog with her palm.
Bang! The silver-haired woman’s palm landed with a sound like a drum made of oxhide.
“Ooow~~” The Sky-Devouring Dog let out a miserable howl.
The massive beast staggered backward, staring at the silver-haired woman in terror. The force of that palm had penetrated its supposedly impenetrable hide, striking directly at its internal organs. Now, it felt as if all its insides had shifted, wracked with intense pain!
“Jingle~~” As the silver-haired woman pushed the beast away, a long lock of hair at her temple swung, and a bell tied to the end of it chimed crisply.
Looking at that bell, hearing its clear sound, a sense of familiarity welled up from deep within Ethan Brooks’s heart.
“That sound is so familiar. Do I know her?” Ethan Brooks thought fuzzily.
The bell’s chime was so familiar, Ethan Brooks felt as if he’d always been hearing it, all the time.
“Who is it?” Ethan Brooks forced out the words. Who was this silver-haired woman, and why did she make him feel such a deep sense of familiarity?
As if she’d heard Ethan Brooks’s faint voice, the silver-haired woman slowly turned her head…
“Who is it?” Ethan Brooks struggled to keep his eyelids open. He wanted to see this woman.
Just once, just one look! Even if I’m going to die, let me see her! Let me know why she feels so familiar!
That’s what Ethan Brooks was thinking.
But unfortunately, his body refused to cooperate. As the silver-haired woman turned her head, Ethan Brooks’s vision had already blurred to the extreme.
Other than the bell at the end of her hair, all Ethan Brooks could see was a field of white.
Comrade Ethan Brooks was instantly moved to tears.
This frail, sickly body could hold out no longer. Ethan Brooks felt his vision go black and fainted away~~~~
“Puscasen!” The silver-haired woman looked at Ethan Brooks’s eyes, full of anxiety…

“Impossible!” The assassin leader practically squeezed the words out from his throat, barely able to believe what he was seeing. The ferocious Sky-Devouring Dog, which had always been unstoppable, had actually been pushed aside single-handedly by a silver-haired woman, and the target of this assassination was still stubbornly alive!
The assassin leader couldn’t believe his eyes, and neither could the silver-armored swordsmen guarding Ethan Brooks.
“Bi—Miss Bi Wanning?” The burly captain of the silver-armored swordsmen standing before the young city lord leaned on his giant sword, mouth agape as he stared at the silver-haired woman.
Someone who shouldn’t have been here at all—Miss Grace Bennett, the young city lord’s little aunt whom he’d been thinking of even as he faced death.
Yet, the burly captain couldn’t be sure that this silver-haired woman was the gentle little aunt Grace Bennett he knew.
Because the Grace Bennett before him was so different from the Grace Bennett of daily life.
In the past, Miss Grace Bennett had always struck him as gentle, kind, and possessing a delicate beauty—the kind of woman that made men want to protect her at first sight.
But the silver-haired woman before him radiated a dangerous aura from head to toe, an oppressive sense of danger. Even the battle-hardened captain, who prided himself on years of life-and-death experience, found it hard to bear…
