Chapter 9

The man joyfully climbed ashore, but the figure ahead suddenly lunged at him, biting through his throat.

The next moment, no one knew what the figure did to him... The figure collapsed, while the man’s whole body trembled.

His body convulsed violently, and a low growl of “huh huh” kept coming from his mouth.

But through the mist, on the cruise ship, everyone was excitedly watching his faintly visible silhouette!

“Help... help me...” The man wanted to shout this, but he could no longer speak.

He looked in the direction of his younger sister... The petite girl was staring at him, her eyes showing a very unfamiliar expression.

But soon, that feeling seemed to slowly become familiar again, as if... the same kind...

“How did he come back?” Emily Carter said in surprise.

The others also stirred, because besides the man who turned around and walked back into the water, the other figures were also heading toward the sea.

“Hey... my girlfriend can’t even swim!” an older man said in astonishment.

But what was happening before his eyes was unbelievable, because as the man started swimming, the other injured people also began to do the same.

Exactly the same swimming style...

William Scott suddenly snapped back to his senses, grabbed Grace Johnson and said, “Let’s jump into the sea from the other side. Can you swim?”

“I can...” Emily Carter had actually been watching William Scott’s reaction all along. Hearing this, she quickly reached out to grab the corner of William Scott’s shirt, then said a little timidly.

William Scott glanced at her, then at Grace Johnson, and said, “I’m not sure if my judgment is right. Just like before, I can only say we’ll try our best...”

“I believe you!” Grace Johnson answered first.

Emily Carter also nodded.

William Scott looked at the sea. Those “people” moved stiffly and didn’t swim very fast. After making eye contact earlier, he kept feeling that the man was staring at him...

“Okay, don’t make a fuss. Go tell the classmates about this. If they don’t believe it, just tell them to stay as far away from those people as possible. Also, have them try to pass the message to others... I’m just afraid there’s not enough time.”

As William Scott said this, a crisp “clang” sounded by the side of the ship.

The man whose throat had been bitten through in his premonition, who should have been dead, was already the first to swim back to the side of the cruise ship, trying to climb up the high railing.

“Hurry, hurry, pull him up!”

The people on the ship shouted excitedly and enthusiastically.

William Scott tightened his life jacket, then silently scanned the ground, picking up a steel pipe that had been broken in the crush...

“Let’s go. Try to find something to use as a weapon along the way.”

He grabbed Grace Johnson and Emily Carter, who had just finished talking to David Bolton and hurried over.

But among the classmates, only a handful chose to believe him and follow...

Even though he had foreseen the disaster, most people still didn’t want to believe what he said.

These people were all friends and family of the cruise ship’s guests—how could there be anything wrong with them?

Besides, they hadn’t seen what those people looked like after being injured. Judging by the bloodstains on the ground... maybe they were just minor wounds?

“Huh...”

The man grabbed the rope, and behind him, the male from the couple also swam to the side of the ship, raising his head and looking up at the excited tourists above with a slightly expectant gaze...

Chapter 005: Transformation

While there was a cheer on the deck, William Scott quietly led a few people around to the other side of the cruise ship.

These people clearly didn’t know what “weapon” really meant, and the things they picked up were all sorts of random objects.

It was the delicate and frail Grace Johnson who understood to follow the example, finding two chair legs along the way and handing one to Emily Carter.

Emily Carter took it in a panic, not even sure if she could use it.

“When you hear a scream, we’ll go down from here.” William Scott said as he carefully looked out at the sea.

There were still quite a few “people” swimming toward the cruise ship. After “witnessing” the man’s attack, even though he couldn’t see their faces and expressions clearly, William Scott could still feel the strange aura emanating from them.

The waving gesture was learned from Emily Carter, and swimming was something they all suddenly picked up after the man was bitten.

“Many creatures have collective behavioral patterns, like geese migrating or worker ants foraging in groups, but I’ve never heard of one person knowing something and then everyone knowing it...” William Scott was actually very scared inside, far less calm than he appeared. He had foreseen so many disasters, but this was the first time it was really happening to him.

Before this, he was just a student who went to the library or spent all day in the lab. Who would have thought that on the day before going home, he’d run into something like ‘crossing the Bermuda Triangle’?

This sea area doesn’t look like a normal ocean at all!
