Chapter 14

Not only her, but the rest of the people also fell into utter despair and negativity amidst their screams. They barely struggled before being torn apart by the octopus’s tentacles.

“Human biological species... are affected by the fate of their own kind...” On the cruise ship deck, that girl stared curiously at everything happening on the sea, murmuring softly.

The other aberrants also watched in silence, forming a stark and eerie contrast with the scene on the sea.

“Ah...” The spot where William Scott and the others were was still somewhat away from the crowd, but the blood staining the seawater still drifted nearby, and severed limbs were instantly scattered everywhere. Half a human body was even thrown close to them. Grace Johnson bit her pale lips, then quickly covered Emily Carter’s mouth before she could scream.

“It’s okay... it’s okay...” She turned her head, whispering in Emily Carter’s ear, speaking to both her and herself.

Another aberrant octopus was only about ten meters away from them...

The bodies of several college students were almost completely stiff, and William Scott could feel his own heart pounding wildly.

This was simply a fear at the level of life itself!

He stared intently at this aberrant octopus, forcing himself to observe it.

In terms of size, this aberrant octopus was simply too enormous...

Among the largest predators in the deep sea, even the giant squid only reaches a maximum length of about twenty meters.

But this aberrant octopus had reached a staggering thirty meters or so... and this was what William Scott deduced by comparing it to the length of the cruise ship.

He immediately thought of the violent shaking of the oil tanker... If these two aberrant octopuses dragged the cruise ship in, it was entirely possible!

But then why did the signal get lost, and what was that friction sensation...

A small island that shouldn’t appear on the route, a bizarre sea area, creatures that don’t exist on Earth... all these things together made William Scott suddenly have a feeling.

Maybe this place isn’t even a sea on Earth.

In his premonition, he heard “the door is open,” and when the cruise ship was being squeezed, maybe that was when they passed through that “door.”

“No matter what, survive...” William Scott silently said to himself.

At the same time, he thought of that black line that entered his body... Since aberrants can take over the bodies of other creatures, then why was he fine? Or perhaps, the aberrant that was in James Carter’s body had already been killed by him, and he... absorbed it?

Splash!

After tearing apart several tourists, that aberrant octopus suddenly paused, then abruptly turned around!

The two giant wheel-like eyes on its ugly head instantly fixed on them...

William Scott’s mind immediately went blank.

Chapter 008: Deception

The enormous difference in size and strength made both escape and resistance seem like a joke.

But very quickly, William Scott snapped back to his senses.

Facts proved that his judgment was correct—hiding here was safer than those who swam toward the island.

Now, it all depended on whether his plan would work...

With them pressed tightly against the cruise ship and using James Carter’s corpse to confuse the sight and scent, maybe this aberrant octopus wouldn’t attack them.

After all, compared to the aberrant octopus, their bodies were too small, and if they didn’t move at all, they barely registered any presence.

And as long as there was a chance, they could sneak past all the aberrants’ lines of sight and get onto the island!

The shortest distance from here to the island was just over twenty meters...

“We can definitely do it!”

But after all, William Scott still failed to consider everything... He overestimated the psychological endurance of the others when facing such an overwhelming threat.

As a tentacle suddenly swept past not far in front of them, and seeing the terrifying suction cups so close at hand, the boy holding the metal shard suddenly shuddered all over, then suddenly shouted and threw the shard.

The moment the shard touched the tentacle, everyone’s hearts skipped a beat...

The boy then slapped the water twice with all his might and suddenly swam to the side.

“What are you doing!”

Water splashed, and a male student stared in horror, eyes wide, and roared angrily.

The boy with the metal shard, swimming away, looked back and cried out miserably, “I didn’t want to, I really didn’t! But look at William Scott, when he killed someone just now, he didn’t even blink! We barely know him, why would he save us? And how does he know so much! Maybe we’re all just his bait, and he’ll throw us away one by one! I’m sorry, I can’t die yet... I’m more cowardly than all of you, I really don’t want to die!”

“Idiot... ah!”

The male student wanted to keep cursing, but the tentacle suddenly smashed down. He screamed, instinctively trying to dodge, but was grabbed by William Scott.

“I told you not to move, no matter what happens!” William Scott growled in a low voice.

“Ah...” The male student’s nerves were about to snap, watching helplessly as the tentacle, thick as a human body and covered in suction cups, rapidly enlarged in his field of vision.

William Scott’s expression was no better than his... but he knew clearly in his heart that if this plan didn’t work, then trying to escape would only mean dying even faster!
