Chapter 4

“Hey, isn’t this Fifth Young Master Clark? I can’t believe you’re out and about. Why do I feel a little scared when I see you, haha. Young Master Clark, you’re out shopping too, but the ‘Heaven on Earth’ you usually go to isn’t in this direction.” William Clark looked up and saw a young man about his own age, his hair permed like a poodle, with two earrings and a nose ring. He didn’t just look like a poodle—he was a poodle.

“Mm, mm…” William Clark really couldn’t hold it in and focused his laughter through his nose. He had some impression of this person—it was the second young master of the Li family, Samuel Thompson. Another extremely spoiled rich kid. He had his eye on the Han family’s Evelyn Blake, but the Li family wanted to ally with the Chen family to resist the powerful Lin family, so they had him marry the Chen family’s Sarah Brooks.

So this William Clark was a thorn in Samuel Thompson’s side. Even though this William Clark was mentally ill, he was still a Lin, so although Samuel Thompson coveted Evelyn Blake, he hadn’t made a move.

If William Clark hadn’t been abandoned by Edward Clark, he probably wouldn’t have been able to marry into the already declining Han family. The current William Clark knew this, and so did everyone else.

Holding his nose to stifle his laughter, William Clark saw a little dog running over from the other side. Suddenly, William Clark dropped his hand, drooled, and stared at the dog with a silly look, saying, “Doggy, if all your fur got curled, would you turn into a pig right away, huh…” After saying this, he grinned foolishly at the dog.

“No wonder you ended up in some hospital, talking to a dog. A dog turning into a pig, haha. Even if its fur is curled, at most it’s just a poodle. Sigh, I really pity your Lin family.” Samuel Thompson put on a heavy expression and said.

“Not bad, pretty smart, but you never know. Maybe this poodle could suddenly turn into a pig.” After saying this, William Clark immediately returned to normal and walked away, not bothering with this boring guy at all.

Samuel Thompson thought William Clark was a nutcase and didn’t pay much attention at first. But the laughter from the people around made Samuel Thompson realize what was going on—he’d just been insulted in a roundabout way, called a poodle and even possibly a pig. He immediately shouted angrily, “Madman Clark…”

Chapter 003: William Clark Eats Wild Fruit by the Roadside

Although he’d given Samuel Thompson a harsh lesson, the main problem wasn’t solved—he was still starving. William Clark didn’t feel happy at all, just aimlessly looking at all the snacks by the roadside, swallowing his saliva nonstop.

“Xiaoyou, doesn’t that look a bit like William Clark?” A girl who had just watched William Clark tease Samuel Thompson said to the girl next to her.

“What are you talking about, Grace Foster? Are your eyes okay? There’s no need to doubt it, that’s definitely Evelyn’s husband William Clark. Didn’t we see Evelyn take him home near the hospital yesterday?” The girl called Little Alice sounded like she doubted Grace Foster’s eyesight.

“Sigh, Evelyn is so pitiful, marrying a mental patient. But he seemed pretty sharp just now when he was messing with the Li family’s second young master. Could it be that he’s already recovered?” Grace Foster wondered.

“Let’s hurry up and buy some food, don’t worry about it. Wow, why are there so many people buying rice noodles today? Maybe we should get something else.”

“No way, we can get other things, but Anna has to have rice noodles, or she’ll complain.”

“Sigh, in that case, let’s just all get rice noodles.”

……

Although William Clark looked average and his skin was a bit dark, his hearing was excellent. He heard every word of the two girls’ gossip and gave a bitter smile in his heart. What a coincidence—he’d just come out and already run into Evelyn Blake’s colleagues.

He watched as the two girls went to the rice noodle shop across the street. William Clark really wanted to follow and get a bowl for himself, but although he’d been thick-skinned in his previous life, he was too embarrassed to go now. The key was that he and Evelyn Blake were basically strangers, so how could he shamelessly go and mooch food from her colleagues?

“Mingyan fruit? Hm, it really is Mingyan fruit.” William Clark actually saw Mingyan fruit growing by the edge of a park by the road, and he couldn’t help but feel excited. Mingyan fruit, also called Minghuandan, is a medicinal fruit rich in spiritual energy and soul essence, extremely beneficial for cultivators. But you have to soak it in salt water before eating, or you’ll get diarrhea. William Clark never expected such a precious fruit to be planted as a landscaping tree by the roadside.

But thinking about it, it made sense. With no one cultivating here, the fruit was just ornamental and really served no other purpose.

Now that he’d found Mingyan fruit, there was no way he’d go hungry. William Clark suppressed his excitement, immediately went to a nearby snack shop, asked the owner for some salt, and borrowed a basin. After filling it halfway with water, he ran to the tree with more than twenty Mingyan fruits, picked them all, and carefully soaked them in the salted water.

A few minutes later, William Clark took out a Mingyan fruit, shook off the water, and took a bite. A burst of indescribable freshness flowed down his throat, with a hint of astringency. William Clark let out a comfortable sigh. Although it wasn’t fully ripe, it was already edible.
