Henry Bennett's mind went blank with a loud bang, and for a moment he was completely stunned. A person can only fuse with one Alpha-type, and even a perfect human is no exception. Fusing with an Alpha-type that has already died means that for the rest of his life, he will never be able to become an interstellar warrior!
Suddenly, Henry Bennett understood the casual, indifferent tone in Ms. McLean's words after class: “One day, it will be summoned.” It turned out the teacher had already guessed that he might have fused with a dead Alpha-type, but for a student of his aptitude, she never had much hope anyway, so it didn’t really matter to her.
In an instant, Henry Bennett felt the world spinning. His parents’ earnest expectations, the indifference of those around him, and Ms. McLean’s contempt all flooded his mind at once, making his vision go black. Suddenly, he became frantic, smashing the super-brain keyboard in front of him with a punch, and shouted hoarsely at the ceiling, “Why? Why did I fuse with a dead Alpha-type? Why is life so unfair to me!”
“Who said I’m a dead Alpha-type?” Suddenly, a voice echoed in his mind. Henry Bennett, already on the verge of collapse, was pulled back from the edge by this voice: “Who! Who is it? Who’s talking to me?”
He jumped up, his thigh knocking over the table holding the bio super-brain, causing a loud clatter.
He looked around the room. The government-subsidized apartment was very small, so he could see everything at a glance. Other than himself, there was no one else.
“It’s me.” The voice sounded again: “The Alpha-type you cursed to death. From the information I found in your brain: you’re supposed to treat the evolution armor as your friend, your family—do you curse your family to die like that?”
Henry Bennett was stunned, recalling that magical, bright white room during the fusion, and that ball of white light. As soon as his thoughts moved, the voice immediately sensed it: “That’s right, that was me.”
Henry Bennett didn’t even have time to be surprised; first, he let out a long sigh of relief: “You’re not dead, that’s great…”
“Pah! Pah! Pah!” The voice was furious: “What’s with all this talk of death? It’s unlucky, very unlucky! Why do you keep cursing me to die? Of course I’m not dead, I’m alive and well, and I guarantee I’ll live better than those who curse me!”
“I wasn’t cursing you.” Henry Bennett suddenly realized: “Can’t you read my thoughts? You should know exactly what I’m thinking.” The voice chuckled awkwardly: “It’s been years since I’ve argued with anyone. Now that I finally found someone, I just couldn’t help myself…”
Henry Bennett rolled his eyes inwardly: “Since you’re alive and well, why didn’t you show up when I tried to summon you?” The voice snorted, sounding rather proud: “Who do you think I, Achilles, am? Do you think you can just summon me at will?”
“But…” Henry Bennett suddenly realized that if this guy really decided to stay in his body, there was nothing he could do about it. “Kid.” The voice, calling itself Achilles, suddenly took on a devilish tone: “If you want the great Achilles to help you, you’ll have to pay a certain price…”
With little life experience, Henry Bennett took the bait and immediately asked, “What price?”
“I, Achilles, am flawless, known for perfecting the essence of the universe, promoting material cycles, enhancing biological taste, improving genetic perfection, boosting men’s endurance, increasing women’s pleasure, loved by all, flowers bloom at my sight, cars stop for me, and little brothers bow down to the number one handsome guy in the universe. However, I do have two small hobbies. The first is chatting with people…”
“You mean arguing with people, right?”
“Sounds like you don’t want my help!”
Henry Bennett quickly apologized: “Sorry, sorry, please continue.”
“Hmm… The second is that I love gourmet food.” Achilles’s tone suddenly became excited: “The instant meals and junk food you eat are simply an insult to Achilles’s stomach. And you still want my help? Dream on, not a chance, hmph!”
Henry Bennett frowned. As soon as he had the thought, Achilles sensed it: “That’s right, now you and I are one. Your stomach is my stomach. I didn’t care how you abused yourself before, but now that I’m here, everything will be done to my standards. If you want my help, fine, but before dinner, I want a meal worthy of my status and taste. Otherwise, don’t even think about seeing your evolution armor.”
After Achilles finished speaking, Henry Bennett’s mind fell into silence.
“Achilles, Achilles!” Henry Bennett called out twice, but there was no response. He was helpless: Gone just like that, but at least tell me what kind of food is worthy of your taste.
After Achilles left, Henry Bennett finally calmed down to think: What exactly did I fuse with? He picked up the keyboard he had just smashed; a few keys still worked. He opened a popular search engine and typed in “armor communication.” The result was “0.” No one had ever encountered a talking evolution armor!
Henry Bennett was petrified on the spot, sitting in front of the old bio super-brain’s slightly yellowed screen, staring blankly for a full half minute.
If it’s not an evolution armor, then what exactly is that talking guy inside my body…
