Chapter 20

Henry Bennett suddenly noticed David Clark's expression change, and couldn't help but ask curiously, “Is Sophia really that scary, to frighten you like this?” David Clark said nothing and quickly slipped away. Sophia said angrily, “That guy has no sense of loyalty!” “What’s wrong…” Henry Bennett hadn’t finished asking when a hand suddenly landed on his shoulder.

“Kid, I heard you injured Gregory the boss?” Henry Bennett turned his head and saw several people surrounding him. He frowned—people like Gregory would always have a few cronies at school. “Yes, it was a fair match.”

“I know.” The upperclassman had a tuft of red and yellow hair on his forehead, a cigarette dangling from his mouth even in the school cafeteria, and his uniform unbuttoned to reveal his shirt underneath in a cocky manner. “Kid, I want to have a fair match with you too. How about right here?”

Henry Bennett replied calmly, “If you challenge me, I accept. But we must follow school rules—the match should be held in the simulation battle room, with the school recording the footage…”

“Bullshit! What school rules? You think someone like you could beat Gregory? Be honest, what dirty tricks did you use…”

“Alvin, if you want to kiss Gregory’s ass, that’s your own kink, but it’s not your place to lecture someone from our class. Get lost, now!” Henry Bennett turned to look and saw it was the student who had talked back to Teacher Kate in class that morning, with James Harris following behind—so he’d gone to get reinforcements. Henry Bennett thought to himself: Actually, I could have guessed without looking. Besides Achilles and him, who else has such a sharp tongue?

Alvin’s expression changed slightly when he saw the student. “Jack Clark, you’re getting involved in this too?” The student stepped forward, calmly blocking his way. Alvin sneered, “Fine, I’ll let him go today. But Jack Clark, don’t get cocky. I can’t mess with you, but someone else will deal with you. Let’s go!”

Alvin and his cronies left. Jack Clark glanced at Henry Bennett and said coolly, “I’m also curious how you managed to defeat Gregory.” Hearing the suspicion in his tone, Henry Bennett felt a bit annoyed. Still, since the guy had helped him twice, he replied coldly, “Found his weakness. One strike was all it took.”

Jack Clark’s eyes lit up. “That idiot Gregory probably hasn’t figured that out in three years at Amixius. Easier said than done. With someone like you in the class, I won’t be bored.” With that, he actually nodded and gave Henry Bennett a slight smile before turning to leave.

Chapter 006: The Inverted Pyramid Training Plan

David Clark stared in shock at Jack Clark’s back, then looked at Henry Bennett. “Oh my god, he actually smiled at you!” Sophia said, “It’s not like he’s some ice-cold beauty. What’s the big deal if he smiles at Henry Bennett?” Suddenly, Sophia thought of something. “Ah, is he that young master Jack Clark from the Xingzhou Zheng family?”

David Clark snorted, sulking, “Now you understand why I was so surprised, right?”

Henry Bennett still didn’t get it, so Sophia explained, “You’ve heard of Xingzhou Interstellar Weapons Corporation, right?” Henry Bennett nodded. On Giant 6, if you hadn’t heard of Xingzhou Interstellar Weapons, you’d be hopelessly out of touch. The famous Xingzhou was the largest interstellar business empire on Giant 6, and also one of the three main weapons suppliers for the Federation’s interstellar fleet—a source of pride for the whole planet.

“Jack Clark is said to be a once-in-a-century genius of the Zheng family, with an extraordinary talent for interstellar weapons since childhood. It’s rumored that the Federation’s latest purchase, the Xingzhou ‘Moonshot III’ long-range starship cannon, was independently designed by Jack Clark himself, and its quality far surpasses other cannons of the same class!”

“But this guy is notorious for being cold-blooded, nicknamed the ‘Icy Genius.’ No one’s ever seen him smile—whether facing the media or meeting the Federation’s Council of Elders. Rumor has it that even at home, when facing his father, Xingzhou’s CEO Derek Clark, he rarely cracks a smile.”

David Clark picked up the story: “It’s not just a rumor—I’ve seen it myself. He’ll occasionally smile at his aunt Sarah Clark, but when it comes to his old man Derek Clark, his face is so cold you could scrape off a layer of frost to make a fruit ice mountain.”

He looked around to make sure no one else was nearby, then lowered his voice: “His father Derek Clark’s wife isn’t his biological mother. I overheard my parents gossiping that years ago, Derek Clark did something to inherit the family fortune, which led to the death of his real mother. Although Jack Clark grew up in the Zheng family, he deeply resents his father and grandfather… This is top-secret gossip I’m sharing with you—don’t let it spread!”

After school that afternoon, Henry Bennett went to work at Faber’s pharmacy again. After three hours, he took the free public transport home, arriving at half past ten at night.

Exhausted, he made himself something to eat, filled his stomach, then climbed into bed, sat cross-legged, and began his cultivation for the day.
