Henry Bennett felt that he absolutely had to bargain over this matter, or else he might become the first person in Federation history to be trampled to death by millions of feet just because his summoning mantra was too lame.
"Can we change it?"
"Sure... Achilles is the number one lady-killer in the universe."
"...Let's reconsider the 'heartthrob of countless girls' part..."
After a round of bargaining, Henry Bennett, fighting for his own dignity, finally settled on his mantra: "Peerless War God Achilles."
At that moment, the evolutionary battle armor on his arm suddenly emitted a hazy red glow. Henry Bennett was startled and asked, "Achilles, what's going on?" Achilles replied casually, "How should I know what's going on with it?" Henry Bennett felt a wave of suspicion, and Achilles clearly realized he had let something slip, quickly adding, "Maybe it detected something nearby that it can devour to evolve."
Henry Bennett was shocked: "Devour to evolve! Isn't the evolution of the battle armor supposed to rely on the warrior's hard training and accumulation of energy to achieve a qualitative leap? Besides, my evolutionary battle armor is still in its growth phase. What does 'devour to evolve' mean?" Achilles chuckled, "That's a secret. Why don't you look around? There must be something in this room that's whetting its appetite. If you can find it, in two or three days you'll understand what 'devour to evolve' means—no need for me, the flawless, self-proclaimed perfecter of the universe's essence, promoter of material cycles, enhancer of biological taste, improver of genetic perfection, booster of men's stamina, increaser of women's pleasure, beloved by all, adored by flowers, carried by cars, and worshipped by little brothers as the universe's number one handsome guy, to waste my breath."
Henry Bennett thought to himself, "This battle armor really is just like you." Achilles exclaimed with delight, "Just as elegant and dashing?" "Just as gluttonous."
Ever since his parents passed away, Henry Bennett had lived alone in this room for almost three years. He knew exactly what was in the house, and really couldn't think of anything that could satisfy the "appetite" of an evolutionary battle armor on the same level as Achilles.
Half skeptical, he walked around the house. When he approached a wooden box, the hazy red glow became especially intense.
"It's in that box," Achilles said hurriedly. Henry Bennett pulled the box out from under the table. Inside were some toys from his childhood, untouched for a long time, with a layer of dust on the surface.
He opened the box: there were model cars, space battleships, cute cartoon dolls... The evolutionary battle armor on his arm didn't react to any of these. He kept digging until he reached the bottom of the box, where there were some stones he had picked up from the wild as a child. Back then, Henry Bennett loved collecting oddly shaped stones, and his parents often took him to safe wild areas to look for them.
One stone had a crystal embedded in it, about the size of a corn kernel—this was his favorite stone as a child. When he found it, little Henry Bennett had been excited for a long time, convinced that the milky white, semi-transparent crystal was a gem that could bring his family a life of abundance. Unfortunately, the simple gem tester his father brought home shattered that dream. But up until he entered the Federation's elementary academy, he still believed the crystal was a treasure, and that it was the machine that was wrong.
As he picked up the stone, the evolutionary battle armor on his arm suddenly turned into a mass of liquid, wrapping around the stone completely. A moment later, the stone was spat out, but the crystal on it had disappeared!
After devouring the crystal, the evolutionary battle armor formed a small bulge in the palm of his hand, squirming continuously, then slowly disappeared. At the same time, the battle armor merged back into his palm.
Henry Bennett shouted, "Achilles, what on earth is going on?" Achilles didn't respond.
Henry Bennett called out twice, but Achilles still didn't answer. If this arrogant, narcissistic, and self-satisfied guy didn't want to come out, Henry Bennett had no way to deal with him. It was getting late, and remembering he had class tomorrow, Henry Bennett climbed onto his small bed and drifted off to sleep.
Chapter 003: The Exchange Day Incident
Giant 6 has four moons, making the night much brighter than on the home planet Earth. But that brightness couldn't reach Henry Bennett's little room. Government-subsidized apartments never considered things like lighting or ventilation.
He turned off the switch, and the electric fluorescent walls slowly dimmed, plunging the whole room into darkness. Lying in bed under a thin blanket, in the darkness, a strange flame suddenly appeared at the spot of Henry Bennett's heart. The flame carried a hint of gold, piercing through his clothes and blanket, yet without burning them, as if it were an illusory fire.
The flame gradually grew stronger, spreading from his chest to his entire torso, then to his abdomen, then his legs. After occupying his whole body, his neck and head also ignited. If someone walked into his bedroom at that moment, they would be shocked to see that Henry Bennett had turned into a man of fire!
