Even though those golden flames blazed fiercely, there wasn’t the slightest bit of heat, nor did they cause any damage to Henry Bennett’s surroundings. It was as if the flames existed in another dimension, merely overlapping visually with Henry Bennett’s body...
When he woke up, Henry Bennett felt especially refreshed. He thought it was because he had successfully fused with the evolution battle armor. After washing up and eating a breakfast that made Achilles quite dissatisfied, he poured a few coins out of his piggy bank to pay for the ride, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and got ready to go to school.
Leaving the welfare apartment complex, Henry Bennett was walking on the road leading from the community to the public maglev station when suddenly, from an intersection blocked by tall buildings, the roar of a nuclear engine erupted. A fiery red land cruiser shot out from the intersection. Because it was going so fast, by the time the driver saw Henry Bennett, it was almost too late. She slammed on the brakes and frantically turned the steering wheel, trying to swerve around Henry Bennett.
The high-performance land cruiser suddenly skidded sideways, its high-durability tires screeching against the ground, sliding directly toward Henry Bennett who was standing by the roadside.
“Ah!” Startled by the sudden turn of events, Henry Bennett instinctively reached out his hand, trying to block the runaway land cruiser. But he forgot that a land cruiser weighs over 1.5 tons; at such high speed, the massive kinetic energy wouldn’t just break his arm—it would send him flying.
“Screeeech—” With a tooth-grinding screech, the land cruiser slid sideways for over a dozen meters before finally coming to a stop. Henry Bennett felt a sharp pain in his palm and then landed hard on the ground. However, the land cruiser had, unexpectedly, come to a halt.
Neither Henry Bennett nor the panicked driver noticed that, at the instant his palm touched the car, a faint golden flame flashed across his hand.
The car door quickly opened, and a long-haired girl wearing sunglasses hurriedly got out, anxiously asking, “Are you okay? I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to drive so fast. I’ll take you to the hospital right away...” As she spoke, she helped Henry Bennett up.
Henry Bennett had thought for sure his hand was broken, but after moving it a couple of times, he realized it was fine. He secretly felt lucky and waved his hand at the girl, saying, “No need, I’m fine.” His tone was a bit stiff, his refusal very direct. A girl who could drive a land cruiser worth millions of federal credits and recklessly speed through the streets was definitely the daughter of some privileged elite. Henry Bennett despised these types who liked to show off without caring about others’ safety. He pushed the girl away, stood up, brushed the dust off his clothes, and strode toward the public maglev station. With this delay, if he didn’t hurry, he really would be late.
“Hey, are you really okay?” the girl called after him, waving her hand. Henry Bennett shook his head, “I’m fine.”
Standing by the land cruiser, the girl took off her sunglasses, revealing a delicate, doll-like face. Her exquisite nose wrinkled in a pout: “You brat, am I really that scary? So many people want to get close to me, and I don’t even bother with them, hmph!” Annoyed, she kicked the tire with her little booted foot: “It’s all those damn paparazzi! If I wasn’t trying to avoid them, why would I be speeding? Ouch...” She had hurt her foot.
The dainty girl hopped around holding her foot, but after a couple of jumps, she stared in shock at her car door: on the ultra-high-strength space metal door, there was a clearly visible palm print!
The girl’s mind replayed the entire accident. At the moment her cruiser hit that boy, it seemed he had raised a hand...
Shaking her head in disbelief, the girl muttered, “That’s impossible! This is Dodge’s latest model, the Absolute Phantom, supposedly the safest high-speed cruiser. The body is made from the highest-grade space alloy used in interstellar warships. Even a photon gun wouldn’t leave such a deep mark. How could a teenage boy leave a palm print on the car?”
But the palm print was clearly imprinted on her car door. The girl grumbled, “Damn Dodge, how dare you try to scam me with shoddy products! And you call yourselves an interstellar corporation—how could you pull such a cheap trick?” As she spoke, a layer of pale blue crystalline armor covered her right hand. She slammed her palm against the car door, a nebula-like blue light bursting out beneath her hand. The door gave a muffled thud, and the girl let out a pained grunt, her beautiful features twisting in pain: “Ouch, that hurts...”
Looking again, aside from the palm print left by the boy, the bright red car door showed not a single other mark.
“This can’t be! My strength is already at the level of a level-five evolution warrior. There’s no way that boy could leave a palm print when I can’t...” Unfortunately, the facts were right in front of her. The car door was as impartial as iron, refusing to make the slightest concession just because she was a beauty.
