Giggs kicked the corpse at his feet. Luke Carter recognized him—this was Master Fair, one of the few level 4 mages in the academy, fifty years old this year, who had studied magic for over thirty years. He was indeed much older than Luke Carter, and by quite a lot.
"The power of magic is not only related to how long you study it; talent is even more important. Dark elf half-breeds, I’ll show you what real magic is!"
Luke Carter's voice was extremely calm. As he spoke, his foot tapped the ground lightly a few times. The movement was very subtle, and no one noticed it.
"Hahaha, then let me see your talent. Hughman, go cut off his head!" Giggs ordered, pointing at a dark elf warrior beside him.
"As you wish!"
The dark elf warrior Hughman raised his shield and walked toward Luke Carter. When he was twenty paces away, he suddenly brought his shield up in front of him and charged at Luke Carter.
Low-level Charge
Combat Skill
Effect: The warrior uses a special breathing technique to unleash all his strength, gaining unimaginable speed for a short time—a killer move against mages.
'Whoosh'—the speed of this dark elf warrior was truly at its peak, and as his body sliced through the air, it produced a loud rushing wind.
Even more terrifying, the warrior held an anti-magic shield, making it very difficult for magic to harm him directly. As long as he reached Luke Carter, he could decapitate Luke Carter with a single blow.
Yes, just one blow!
In the shadows, Celine had already raised her wand, a faint dark light flickering at its tip. This kind-hearted human youth was in danger—she could not stand by any longer.
However, in the next moment, Celine withdrew her hand and stopped casting.
The reason was simple: Hughman failed to reach Luke Carter.
When he was halfway there, his speed reached its maximum. Every step he took was with all his might, leaving deep footprints in the ground, which in turn gave him tremendous counterforce, propelling him forward at high speed.
But when he was just five steps away from his opponent, he stepped down and found that the once-solid ground had suddenly become extremely soft. He couldn't get even the slightest bit of force from it.
Not only could he not push off, but because he was going all out, his entire leg sank straight into the ground.
Worse still, he was charging at over 20 meters per second. With one leg suddenly stuck in the ground and the other still on solid earth, at such high speed, there was a crisp 'crack'—Hughman's hip bone was instantly shattered.
And that wasn't all—his soft spot between his legs slammed directly onto the hard ground!
He had used all his strength in the charge, so this impact was extremely, extremely brutal. With a 'smack', something broke.
A fractured hip and crushed testicles—this was pain no living being could bear!
"Ah~~~~ ah~~~~~ ah~~~~~" The screams, drawn out with long exhalations, were filled with excruciating agony that anyone could hear.
After three howls, the warrior's head lolled to the side, and he fainted from the pain.
The warrior Hughman was thus crippled, all thanks to a small spell Luke Carter had quietly set up.
Quagmire
Level 0 Magic
Effect: Turns hard earth into soft mud.
(Note: Do not step on it! Absolutely do not stomp on it! Never, ever step on it forcefully while running at high speed! Otherwise, bear the consequences yourself.)
"Hmm?" Giggs finally began to take his opponent seriously. Looking at Hughman's miserable state, his eyes grew grave. "Apprentice, you have angered me!"
The mage before him was of a very low level. The only reason he had managed to cripple Hughman was because they had been careless, not because his magic was powerful.
But now, he was getting serious.
Drawing the battle blade at his waist, Giggs ordered the warrior beside him, "Terry, stand aside and protect the mage tower. I will kill this little brat myself."
"Yes, Commander." Terry stepped aside. He knew that Giggs would never gang up on a young mage with him—this was the pride of a powerful warrior.
Giggs walked forward at a measured pace, his battle blade slicing casually through the air with a sharp 'whoosh'.
The heavy, dark shield in his hand emitted a faint white glow, standing out in the darkness—this was battle aura, something only level 3 warriors could possess.
Then, as if strolling through a garden, he advanced toward Luke Carter at a steady, unhurried pace.
"Fireball!"
Luke Carter called out softly. A white-hot fireball, the size of a glass marble, rapidly formed and shot through the air in a perfect straight line toward Giggs.
Giggs raised his shield lightly. With a soft 'bang', the fireball struck the shield, scattering a shower of sparks, but having no effect on Giggs. The battle aura on the shield remained unchanged.
Level 0 magic was simply too weak. A powerful level 3 warrior could easily defend against such an attack.
Giggs's voice was calm: "If this is the extent of your magic, then you needn't struggle. Just stick your neck out and let me chop it off."
Encased head to toe in anti-magic armor, he was as invincible as a tank.
