The five girls were trembling with laughter after listening to John Harris describe the process in plain words, and they even discovered that there was a whimpering drama queen among them.
"Isn't that right?" Lauren covered her mouth and let out another round of "whimper whimper whimper," then suddenly put on a cold face: "Don't you people from Blue Star like girls to act like this?"
Lauren's sudden change of expression reminded Brian Carter of a series of things that happened when this crazy goddess first arrived. First, she gave Kevin Clark a strange look, then burst out laughing with Eric Bennett and John Harris.
"Damn, how did I end up sharing a dorm with such a crazy goddess? It's just..." Grace Davis shook her head in utter disdain. "Totally lowers the class of B205."
"Exactly..." Emily was equally disdainful: "Who was the one who, when she first arrived, was sitting in a bathtub looking completely confused?"
"Hey, hey, hey!" Lauren angrily slapped Emily, and even though she tried to control her strength, she almost knocked Emily off her chair: "That was because Teacher Liu didn't stick to the schedule. I wasn't supposed to come here yet, so I thought I should make a beautiful entrance, but I got summoned halfway through my bath!"
Kevin Clark hadn't experienced those things. He only arrived at Super God Academy more than a week after it opened, even three or four days later than Emily, around the same time as Lillian Hill.
The food stall was a barbecue stand, run by a woman from Huang Village. She got up early every day and worked late into the night in the school district city. The barbecue wasn't anything special, but it wasn't bad either.
Everyone knew Aunt Huang was a single mother, with a pair of parents-in-law in their sixties or seventies, and two children in college. Her husband had died early, and the whole family relied on her barbecue stall to get by.
Since all the barbecue stalls in the area tasted pretty much the same, whenever they came to the food street, they would always visit Aunt Huang's stall.
But...
Every time they came, they would bring big bags of their own stuff, and often had to borrow Aunt Huang's pots, bowls, and utensils for a fee.
Young people eat a lot, especially since their regular physical training classes burn so much energy. No matter how much they ate at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, they were always hungry. Even though they always brought a ton of their own food, they still ordered lots of barbecue, and as for beer, drinking less than ten cases was considered little.
"Come on, fill them up, fill them up!" Lauren said boldly, lifting an old-fashioned wine jar and pouring a golden liquid for everyone. "You boys and girls, don't say your big sis isn't looking out for you. This stuff is super good for you!"
No one knew where Lauren had pulled out that wine jar from. They only knew that not only did the wine look beautiful, it also smelled amazing.
"Do you know what this is?" Lauren showed off. "This is ginseng fruit wine. If you're sick, it'll cure you; if you're healthy, it'll extend your life. It boosts your constitution, and even increases your divine power!"
"What the heck?" Brian Carter downed his cup, savoring the taste, and was stunned when he heard the name: "Is it that thing that looks like a person, that, that..."
"The ginseng fruit tree of Zhenyuan Daxian!" John Harris suddenly stood up, his face full of shock and wild joy. "The ginseng fruit that gives you ten thousand more years of life after eating just one?!"
"Holy crap, following big sis is just full of surprises!" Grace Davis never bothered to act ladylike, and touched her own face. "Does it have a beauty effect?"
"Mmm, mmm, mmm." Emily was most concerned about something other than longevity: "Look at big sis's skin, so pink and tender, it must have some effect, right?"
Lillian Hill was already stunned. She wasn't really familiar with these people; today, she was only here because fellow police officer Emily casually invited her, and since she had nothing else to do, she agreed to join the get-together.
"Beauty effect? Of course it has one!" Lauren proudly crossed her legs, stroking the skin of her thigh with a mischievous look. "Smooth and translucent, full of luster..." Then she suddenly glared at the four guys across from her: "What are you looking at? Look again and I'll gouge your eyes out!"
"Well, well!" A sleazy, somewhat older-sounding voice chimed in: "What kind of wine smells so good, and there are five pretty girls too!"
Kevin Clark turned to look.
At the next table sat a guy with a gold chain, shirtless, his upper body covered in tattoos, looking nothing like a decent person. His eyes kept darting between the wine jar and the five girls.
"Damn!" Brian Carter reacted strongly when he saw the man. "How did this thug get into the school?"
"Hey, hey, hey, if you're going to call me a thug, at least add 'boss' at the end." He patted his strong chest. "Mr. Thompson has dozens of brothers under him, the top dog in Giant Gorge City, not just some simple thug. You can call me Brother Thompson, or Mr. Thompson, surname Thompson. You know the rules of the street, right? When there's good wine, the big brother drinks first; when there are girls, the big brother gets first pick..."
Did Brian Carter have some history with David Thompson?
This guy called David Thompson was already standing up as he spoke, walking over to Kevin Clark's table and reaching out to grab someone's wine cup.
"Get him!"
"Take him down!"
"Deal with him!"
"Mother of Xiya!"
