Chapter 7

These words had been bottled up inside Kevin Clark for a long time.

Clearly, this was a highly advanced civilization, with a territory so vast in the universe that it seemed to rule over an entire nebula or perhaps even a galaxy. They didn’t lack planets with suitable ecosystems, so why were they so fixated on guarding the Scorching Sun Star, even after half of it had been destroyed?

“People like you, who don’t hold on to tradition, will never understand our Scorching Sun people's love for our home star.” Ethan shot Kevin Clark a disdainful glance, full of contempt. “According to our database, you used to be just like us, similar in dress and thought, but then you started imitating a bunch of barbarians, shaved your heads, changed your clothes, and threw away your pride, all in the name of ‘keeping up with the times.’”

“You call that keeping up with the times?” After a burst of laughter, Ryan said with utter disdain, “That’s called surrender, and a lack of confidence in your own civilization.”

“What are you talking about!” Lauren came down a staircase that was almost absurdly long, still a kilometer or two away, but her voice already carried over: “On our side, nothing has changed for tens of thousands of years. However it was tens of thousands of years ago, it’s still the same now. Even this goddess is sick of the monotony.”

“Your Highness!”

The three guardians first saluted, each of them looking like they had something to say but were holding it in.

“Our ancestors were useless. If they’d unified Blue Star earlier, there wouldn’t be so much trouble now.” Kevin Clark was a bit disappointed to see Lauren empty-handed. Glancing at the three guardians who looked stifled, he said helplessly, “I heard that the idea of ‘national peace and prosperity’ came from the Scorching Sun? What a harmful philosophy—every time there’s a golden age, everyone just hunkers down.”

“You!” Ryan, hot-tempered, retorted, “It’s you who misunderstood the true meaning of the way of civilization. What does that have to do with the Scorching Sun!”

“Alright, alright, the great eastern nation is doing pretty well these days.” Lauren moved quickly, arriving at the plaza and nimbly jumping up so that Kevin Clark was once again carrying her princess-style. “Enough with the nonsense, let’s go!”

When under someone else’s roof—no! When a girl is in your arms, especially a nuclear fusion-powered girl, there’s nothing more to say. You just go.

Lauren was a goddess capable of channeling stellar energy. Once, a main god of the Scorching Sun even detonated a sun. Who wouldn’t be nervous holding such a goddess?

The next second, Kevin Clark and Lauren vanished on the spot.

After they disappeared, a figure crashed down from the sky like a meteor. When the dust settled, a mighty general stood in the square.

The four guardians cupped their fists and saluted, calling out, “Great General!”

The newcomer was the Scorching Sun’s guardian, Mark Parker. He reached out, waving his hand through the air where Kevin Clark and Lauren had vanished, as if trying to catch or collect something.

“Can’t detect any particles at all, no information about micro-wormhole transport. What kind of technology is this, or rather, what kind of ability?” Mark Parker stopped waving his hand and turned to Ethan to ask, “Did you give him the item?”

Ethan replied respectfully, “It’s already been given.”

“When facing the unknown, we must always maintain a sense of awe.” Mark Parker’s voice was deep and powerful; his imposing figure radiated not just authority, but also a broad-mindedness. He touched the bandage on his right arm, as if recalling something, and after a long pause finally said, “Even the Super God Academy can’t figure this person out. They have no way to analyze the basis of that movement ability, let alone…”

Halfway through his sentence, Kevin Clark suddenly reappeared, right where he had vanished before.

“Huh?” Kevin Clark was clearly startled to see people still present, and when he spotted Mark Parker, he greeted him, “Uncle Mark Parker?”

The five big shots of the Scorching Sun looked at the returning Kevin Clark in confusion.

Mark Parker was momentarily stunned, but then a gentle smile appeared on his face as he nodded in greeting.

The other four guardians, however, looked a bit less friendly.

“Forgot something.” Under their gaze, Kevin Clark started prying up bricks from the ground, making the five of them twitch at the corners of their eyes. “Wasn’t I helping you test that spatial shock generator? I didn’t have anywhere on me to store the box. I’d already noticed some loose bricks here, with a hole underneath, so I stashed it there for the time being.”

Once he retrieved the item, Kevin Clark hugged the golden box and said, “See you later!” and disappeared again the next moment.

The four guardians were now twitching not just at the corners of their eyes, but even their cheeks.

“Fill it in, seal it up!”

“Yes, yes, seal it up.”

“If necessary, we should set up a spatial prison here…”

“Useless. Unless you can restrain him—actually, even that might not work. There’s no way to lock him down.”

“Damn it…”

Mark Parker ignored the four guardians’ bickering, smiling as he looked at the spot where Kevin Clark had disappeared.

Blue Star, Super God Academy.

When Kevin Clark appeared holding the golden box, Lauren immediately snatched it away.

“What’s this?” Lauren carelessly opened the box, glanced inside, and then tossed it back to Kevin Clark in disgust, saying, “So it’s an armory? And an empty one at that. Uncle Mark Parker is as stingy as ever.”

Inside the box lay a diamond-shaped crystal engraved with golden runes. Once bound, the crystal would disappear.
