It was Brian Carter who charged first, Kevin Clark second, and then the four of them dragged David Thompson over to the bushes nearby.
The sound of fists landing on heads echoed continuously. Not only were the customers at the barbecue stall utterly stunned, but people from the surrounding stalls were also drawn over to the edge of the bushes.
“They…” Grace Davis pointed at the bushes. “Why is it that every time they fight, it’s either an ambush in the bushes or they drag someone into the bushes?”
“I’ve heard about it long ago.” Emily said with a grin, “Back when there were only three people in dorm B210, they were called the ‘Three Scoundrels of the Bushes.’ Later, when a fourth joined, they became the ‘Four Scoundrels of the Bushes.’”
“Except for Kevin Clark, do you know what the other three wanted to do on their first day at school?” Grace Davis recalled something funny and giggled, “The three idiots moved into dorm B205 and got a good beating from me. Brian Carter even knelt on the balcony and sang ‘Conquer.’”
The four, feeling thoroughly refreshed and clear-headed after the beating, came out.
“…Alright, that’s it for today.” Lauren put away the wine jar and glanced at Kevin Clark, “That student stays. The rest of you, go do whatever you need to do!”
Most people left, the boys chasing after the girls, and from afar you could hear them inviting the girls for a walk.
“Me?” Kevin Clark pointed at himself with a look of dread. “Boss lady, what are you up to this time?”
Lauren was instantly annoyed, raised her hand and flipped him the finger, saying angrily, “It’s your honor that this goddess needs you. Got it!?”
“Got it!” Kevin Clark nodded like a chicken pecking at rice, resigned. “Yes, yes, I know, I know.”
Only then did Lauren nod in satisfaction, pulled Kevin Clark to a deserted spot, and with a hop, leapt into a princess carry, making Kevin Clark hold her. She looked at the utterly lifeless Kevin Clark with great disdain and shouted, “What the hell are you standing there for? Move it, do you get it!?”
There should be special effects here, like a colored light orb suddenly appearing to envelop the two, followed by a “pop” sound effect, and then the two of them disappearing from the spot.
But there weren’t any. It was just that plain and uneventful—no special effects at all. The two simply vanished on the spot.
The next moment, Kevin Clark and Lauren appeared in a plaza among a cluster of magnificent palaces.
All around were jade towers and pavilions, ornate railings and painted beams, like a celestial paradise on earth. The most eye-catching was a giant tower of unknown height!
Chapter Four: The Hard Life of a Dog
If you zoomed out and looked at this planet from a cosmic perspective, you’d see a broken planet with only one side remaining, for reasons unknown.
This shattered planet had only one face left, surrounded by floating debris in space. It had no moon of its own, drifting alone and desolately through the universe.
Strangely, this planet, which had lost its ability to rotate and always faced its star, still had an atmosphere and was held by the star’s gravity in a fixed orbit within the system.
It was the pinnacle of unscientific!
The instant Kevin Clark and Lauren appeared, four objects like shooting stars crashed down from the sky.
They didn’t break the ground, just kicked up four gusts of air. The arrivals were three men and one woman, all wearing ancient-style armor, with the men being burly figures with long black hair tied up, and the woman a valiant general.
In terms of appearance, the three men and one woman were dressed just like ancient generals from China, with the only difference being… the shortest among them was about two meters tall.
“Greetings, Your Highness!”
Lauren jumped down from Kevin Clark herself, dusted off her clothes with obvious distaste, and waved at them.
They all glared at Kevin Clark with predatory eyes, their sharp gazes like lasers, as if they could slice Kevin Clark into pieces at any moment.
“Don’t stare at me like that!” Kevin Clark said, very displeased. “I was forced into this! It wasn’t voluntary!”
They were the four great guardians of the Sun Civilization.
The Tiger Guardian Evan looked at Kevin Clark’s expression, first burning with anger, then unable to hide his embarrassment: “Is it really so unwilling for you to hug Her Highness?”
“…” Kevin Clark was speechless, muttering under his breath, “You’ve said it all. I remember the first time I came here, you guys almost beat me to death. Now I’m a free taxi, and an interstellar one at that.”
“So, um…” Lauren pressed her hand to her forehead, as if she’d blacked out and forgotten something, thought for a while, then blurted out, “No need to notify Mark Parker. Also, prepare three jars of ginseng fruit wine, I’ll be taking them with me in a bit.”
“Your Highness,” Evan bowed respectfully, but said, “The Grand General has instructed that the ginseng fruit wine is no ordinary item, and even Your Highness cannot take it at will.”
“As expected, Mark Parker is such a miser!” Lauren compromised, “Then peach wine, but it has to be three thousand years old! Three—no, six jars!”
Kevin Clark very sensibly retreated to the side.
