Chapter 13

“Photos?” Alice Parker said to them, feeling a bit dizzy, “You guys didn’t post photos of the beauties from the PR department, did you? Be careful, if they find out, they’ll come after you.” The PR department at Maoyuan Company was known for its abundance of beautiful women—only those ladies could inspire such a pack of wolves to chase after them, right?

As soon as Alice Parker said this, the two guys immediately grinned mischievously with excitement. Little Thompson leaned in mysteriously and said, “We went even further—we posted a photo of Chairman Sutton... heh heh, you get it, right?”

Alice Parker almost collapsed on the spot. These two actually did something like that? A photo of Grace Sutton? No wonder just a single photo could make all the wolves in their guild lose their heads and even their most basic sense of judgment.

They were on the thirty-eighth floor, and Alice Parker was considering whether to open a window and toss these two out. How dare they post his wife’s photo on a gaming forum?

“Hey, hey, don’t make that face.” Little Bolton slung his arm around him and grinned slyly, “Relax, there’s no way Chairman Sutton will find out. We deleted it right after posting. Chairman Sutton doesn’t play games anyway, so she’ll never know.”

“Let’s eat, let’s eat, I’m starving. We’ve got a lot of work to do this afternoon.” Little Thompson rubbed his stomach and urged them on.

The company’s open office area spanned from the twenty-seventh to the thirty-ninth floor. The company cafeteria was sensibly located in the middle, on the thirty-third floor. That way, even if the elevators were too busy at lunchtime, people could use the emergency stairs to get in and out.

It was just a few flights down, which was actually much faster than waiting for the elevator.

The large cafeteria took up the entire floor, and even if all the employees ate together, it never felt crowded. With twenty food service lines, there was hardly ever a need to queue, and everyone could get their food with ease. Company policy stated that no employee was allowed to eat in the office area during work hours. Even the chairman had to eat in the main cafeteria like everyone else, with no special treatment. Of course, as long as it didn’t affect work, eating out at a restaurant was also allowed.

In many big companies, employees are often dissatisfied with the food and frequently complain about it on the company’s internal forums. However, such complaints were almost nonexistent on Maoyuan Group’s internal forum. The company had put a lot of effort into its dining system, ensuring that every normal employee could eat food that suited their taste and was nutritious.

“Old Liu, eating at the company is actually quite enjoyable.” Since they arrived early, they got a window seat. If you liked, you could enjoy the view while eating; if not, you could scan the crowd for pretty girls to feast your eyes on.

“That’s true, but every time I eat with Old Liu, I always feel a bit awkward.” Little Bolton couldn’t help but frown as he watched Alice Parker eat. “Hey Old Liu, were you a starving ghost in your past life or something?”

Calling Alice Parker a starving ghost was a bit much. Although Alice Parker ate quickly, he was never messy. He ate in an orderly and efficient way, finishing his food rapidly. While Alice Parker could be lazy in his work, he was the complete opposite when it came to eating—he ate fast and never wasted a bite.

Unlike at other times, Alice Parker didn’t look around while eating. When he was eating seriously, his expression was stern and his attention fully focused. If you looked closely, you’d notice a certain alertness in his eyes.

While the other two had barely finished half their food, Alice Parker had already cleaned his plate, not leaving a single grain of rice. Only then did he relax, pick up a piece of fruit, and start looking around. This company really was full of beautiful women—there were all kinds, in all shapes and sizes. If Alice Parker didn’t know that most of the HR managers were women, he would have suspected that someone was hiring based on looks to satisfy a special preference.

With a light buzz, Alice Parker took out his phone and saw a text message: “Careful not to get dazzled by all the beauties!”

Alice Parker looked back and saw Sarah Bennett sitting a few tables behind him. On the surface, she was eating and chatting quietly with a few female colleagues, but if you watched closely, you’d notice her gaze kept drifting over to Alice Parker.

Chapter 10: The Iron Lady

“Hey, even though the company’s so big, it’s really not easy to find a beauty who can compare to you.” Alice Parker deliberately put on a regretful expression and sent this text message with his head down. After a while, he glanced over at Sarah Bennett out of the corner of his eye. Sure enough, he saw a hint of joy in her brows—clearly, even though Alice Parker’s flattery was blatant, she still enjoyed it.

“Hmph, you passed, but don’t forget what you promised me tonight.” After Sarah Bennett sent another text, she didn’t look at Alice Parker again, instead chatting casually with her close female colleagues.

Alice Parker could only smile wryly to himself—when did he promise her anything for tonight? But then he thought of Sarah Bennett’s hot and alluring body, and couldn’t help but feel a little stirred. It had indeed been several days since he’d been with a woman.
