Chapter 17

“Heh heh, little sister, could it be that you’ve taken a liking to our Little Alice? Trying to drive this Old Man away?” Henry Carter burst out laughing: “How about you two find another private room and whisper to each other in secret?”

Alice Parker just smiled, and gave that girl’s perky butt a squeeze: “What’s the use of a man having a good body? It’s not like he’s out there selling himself.”

“Mr. Carter’s physique is really well maintained, he doesn’t look like someone nearly fifty at all.” The girl massaging Henry Carter, thinking he was upset, hurriedly smiled and tried to smooth things over: “Honestly, most young people these days aren’t as fit as Mr. Carter.”

Though it was flattery, it made Henry Carter laugh heartily. He immediately pulled out his wallet and took out ten bills, giving each girl five as a tip.

With that, the two girls became even more enthusiastic, constantly performing all sorts of risqué moves, nearly making the old and the young lose control. If Alice Parker hadn’t been worried that things might get out of hand and that the sharp-eyed Sarah Bennett would notice something later that night, he would have let things go further. Instead, he sent the two girls out at the critical moment.

The two men lounged on the sofa, comfortably smoking and drinking tea, watching some pointless TV. After the tea lady left, Henry Carter couldn’t help but curse with a laugh: “Damn, those two girls were really wild, I almost couldn’t hold it together. Good thing you, Little Brother, stopped in time. Otherwise, if you went home unable to perform your husbandly duties, wouldn’t that be a disaster?”

“Heh heh, Mr. Carter, stop pretending with me. With your current condition, going three rounds in one night is nothing for you, right?” Alice Parker’s face was full of a lewd grin.

“You’re one to talk.” Henry Carter’s smile was just as lascivious, and he lowered his voice mischievously: “How about we go to Emperor Club for a drink later?”

Alice Parker naturally knew what kind of place Emperor Club was. He immediately waved his hand and shook his head with a smile: “Let’s skip it today, I’ve already had plenty to drink, I’m dead tired.”

“Haha, you really are a master at playing dumb.” Henry Carter laughed triumphantly, suddenly giving Alice Parker a slap on the shoulder: “I bet you’re not going home to sleep because you’re tired, but because you have a date with a beauty, right?” A knowing glint flashed in his cloudy old eyes.

Alice Parker just smiled ambiguously and continued drinking his tea.

Suddenly, Henry Carter put away his smile and frowned: “Alice Parker, having a lover in the company is pretty normal. But you’d better advise your lady not to be too obvious about it. Be careful—someone might get jealous and try to trip you up.”

Alice Parker looked at Henry Carter in surprise, feigning shock: “Mr. Carter, where did you hear such rumors?”

Henry Carter pointed at Alice Parker and chuckled, looking mysterious: “Alright, alright, still pretending in front of me? Not cool. But you really are something—just joined the company and already got Sarah Bennett. If this were twenty years ago, I’d have to compete with you for her. Now, that David Harris from the review team has really suffered a silent loss. Everyone in the admin department knows he’s been openly pursuing Sarah Bennett for ages, but she’s always ignored him. Who would’ve thought you’d win her over so quietly… heh.”

Alice Parker was a bit surprised at how well-informed Henry Carter was. His affair with Sarah Bennett, while not completely airtight, should have been a secret to all but a few with ulterior motives. Yet Henry Carter, being in a high position, knew everything clearly. Impressive, truly impressive. He immediately put on a smile: “Come on, Mr. Carter, since when did you get so gossipy? Do you really have to meddle in your subordinates’ little affairs?”

Henry Carter glared with his Old Eyes and scolded with a laugh: “You think I want to meddle in your business? You basically snatched someone away, and that David Harris is a stubborn guy. I bet you got called into President Sutton’s office for a lecture today because he stirred things up behind the scenes. So, you’re still young—be smarter in the future, don’t let people catch you out so easily. I’d say Sarah Bennett must really have feelings for you, or she wouldn’t be slipping up like this.”

Alice Parker could only give a wry smile. Although Sarah Bennett did have feelings for him, with her shrewdness, it wouldn’t be hard to keep things under wraps if she wanted to. Clearly, she was letting things slip on purpose. Her intentions were obvious—she wanted to make things official, preferably letting everyone know. She simply didn’t believe he was really married. But she had no idea that his relationship with his wife Grace Sutton was extremely complicated. If things really became public, it would only make everything even messier.

“But, good luck with women always comes with trouble. With someone as outstanding and capable as Xiao Yu, there’s no shortage of admirers. If your relationship ever goes public, you’ll have a lot more enemies. Who knows, someone might try to sabotage you. Little Alice, don’t think I’m just being alarmist. I’m almost fifty—I’ve seen plenty of this kind of thing.” Seeing that he’d hit a nerve, Henry Carter grew worried and spoke with a concerned look.
