Chapter 8

On the grass in front of Henry Walker, clusters of small green creatures the size of fists were scattered everywhere. Their legs were tiny, and their whole bodies looked like balls with four barely visible little legs attached. They actually looked quite cute, but no matter how cute they were, when countless numbers of these little creatures gathered together in a large patch, it became a bit disgusting! Just like a single ant isn’t gross, but a whole swarm of them is!

These little creatures, upon seeing Henry Walker, paid him no attention at all. They just kept slowly wriggling along, crawling as they chanted, “Slime~ Slime~”

“Damn! Even this kind of crap happens!” Henry Walker was extremely frustrated! The whole patch of these little guys covered the entire grassland, leaving Henry Walker with nowhere to step! Right now, Henry Walker really felt like a tiger fallen to the flatlands, bullied by dogs. Looks like he’d have to find another way. Henry Walker thought to himself.

“Woof! Woof!” Speak of the devil, and he appears—he had just mentioned dogs, and here one came!

A gigantic dog silently appeared from behind a mound, then leapt into the group of slimes!

Henry Walker’s pupils instantly contracted, his whole body shuddered, and his nerves tensed to the limit!

Because Henry Walker was certain he had never seen a dog like this in his entire life!

Maybe, just maybe, he’d heard of it. The famous creature from Western novels—the hellhound Cerberus!

Right before him was a giant dog with three heads, each with a pair of blood-red eyes, and a body three meters tall! And those teeth—so white they didn’t even need Colgate—made one thing clear: this was no herbivore!

Cerberus used its golden middle head to glance at Henry Walker and locked its gaze on him, while the other two heads lowered and began devouring the slimes on the ground!

“Slime~ Slime~” The slimes, upon seeing Cerberus, desperately tried to flee!

Cerberus ate at a leisurely pace, but with those four pitifully small legs, how far could the slimes possibly get?

The middle head of Cerberus kept its eyes fixed on Henry Walker, while the other two continued their frenzied feast!

This couldn’t go on! Even though the big dog seemed busy eating slimes, who knew if it would suddenly want to try a new flavor—him! Henry Walker gripped the two rib-blade knives in his hands, tensing his body!

Sure enough, after devouring a large number of slimes, Cerberus raised its heads and looked at Henry Walker. The drool dripping from all three mouths made it clear—it wanted a change of taste! Eating slimes all day was getting old, and everything else on this island was a top-tier magical beast, not easy prey even for Cerberus. So when it saw the delicious-looking Henry Walker, it was overjoyed!

Almost instinctively, as Cerberus stared at him, Henry Walker used all his strength to hurl the rib-blade in his right hand straight at Cerberus! The ancient wisdom of striking first was deeply ingrained in Henry Walker’s mind.

Henry Walker was confident in his skills. Even though his stamina hadn’t recovered, the sharpness of the rib-blade could make up for his lack of strength!

But then, something unbelievable happened!

The leftmost, blue head of Cerberus showed a look of disdain—yes, disdain!

Then, the blue head opened its mouth, and from its fanged maw, it spat out a visible gust of wind. This high-speed, spiraling airflow formed a crescent-shaped blade as it left its mouth, vanishing in a flash!

With a “bang,” Henry Walker saw the rib-blade he’d thrown suddenly stall in midair, then get knocked aside. The wind blade bounced it to the ground, and it rolled back to Henry Walker’s feet. A deep gash was left on the rib-blade, as if it had clashed with the hardest military knife. Henry Walker knew exactly what kind of material the rib-blade was made of—he was sure that even if he struck it hard with his military dagger, this would be the result at most!

But that wasn’t even the scariest part.

The crescent-shaped wind blade, after deflecting the rib-blade, continued on and brushed past the right side of Henry Walker’s face by a hair’s breadth. Immediately after, a series of sounds came from behind him!

Just brushing past Henry Walker’s face, it still left a long gash on his cheek...

Chapter 6: A Tiger Fallen to the Flatlands, Bullied by Dogs (Part 2)

“What the hell is this thing?” Henry Walker was dumbfounded, staring in shock, unable to make sense of what had just happened. Was this some kind of wind ability? But even a wind ability shouldn’t be this exaggerated! And since when did animals have superpowers?

Could it be that after mastering abilities, even dogs mutated? No wonder it could grow three heads.

At this moment, the Cerberus across from him snorted arrogantly, its three pairs of eyes full of contempt, as if mocking Henry Walker’s overestimation of himself. Its gaze was like that of a superior looking down on his subject.
