Chapter 17

Henry Walker smiled in response, picked up the coconut shell holding the bird eggs, and tossed a few into the fire. Once everything was ready, Henry Walker set the little creature in his arms aside.

Patting the little one on the head, Henry Walker stood up and stretched his limbs. That ball of light from the beautiful swordswoman was truly something—not only did it cure Henry Walker's cold, but it also restored much of Henry Walker's stamina. Unfortunately, Henry Walker's mental energy still hadn't recovered, and his powers would need at least another month before they could be used again.

Feeling that his body functions were more or less back to an acceptable level, Henry Walker darted into the forest.

He ran a lap along the path he had taken yesterday, picking some fruits and mushrooms he had seen while gathering bird eggs.

With these fruits and mushrooms, he now had almost everything he needed to season the fragrant meat.

After returning with the fruits and mushrooms, Henry Walker got busy again!

Under the surprised gaze of the beautiful swordswoman, Henry Walker used the only "military dagger" he had brought from his own world to cut open the skin on the thigh of the Cerberus.

The beautiful swordswoman was a bit shocked! She knew that the Cerberus's skin was as tough as dragon scales, yet it was easily sliced open by the unremarkable little knife in his hand!

But Henry Walker had no idea about any of this. After cutting open the Cerberus's thigh, he sliced off a large chunk of meat from the sturdiest part of its leg! Then, carrying the big piece of meat, he ran toward the seaside.

Although Henry Walker's cooking skills were decent, he didn't have any proper seasonings on hand. So Henry Walker had to make do with whatever was available! After washing the meat thoroughly in seawater, Henry Walker cut it into neat chunks, then made a small slit in each piece, and finally stuffed the gathered fruits and mushrooms inside.

The beautiful swordswoman and the little creature had no idea what Henry Walker was doing, so they could only watch as Henry Walker bustled about.

At last, Henry Walker ran back and skewered the meat chunks with branches.

He then went to the fire and took out the bird eggs. After preparing the eggs, he stuffed them into the roasting meat.

With nothing else useful at hand, Henry Walker used whatever he could.

Finally, Henry Walker placed the meat over the fire to roast slowly, brushing coconut juice onto the meat as it cooked to prevent it from burning to a crisp.

The beautiful swordswoman and the little creature watched Henry Walker busily moving about, but couldn't help in any way, since they had no idea what Henry Walker was trying to do.

Watching Henry Walker work, after a while, both the beautiful swordswoman and the little creature started to feel drowsy!

No one knew how much time had passed when an unusual aroma wafted into their noses!

The beautiful swordswoman opened her eyes to see Henry Walker proudly walking toward her, holding several skewers of roasted meat and a few coconuts.

"Here, try some! The taste is really quite good." Henry Walker placed the skewers into the coconut shell.

The beautiful swordswoman looked at the skewers, finding it hard to imagine that such a delicious aroma could come from something that looked so unappealing.

Still, she reached out her slender hand, took a skewer, and, imitating Henry Walker, took a gentle bite.

She then revealed a beautiful smile. Though she said nothing, that lovely smile was already an acknowledgment of Henry Walker's cooking skills!

Henry Walker grinned happily, then picked up a skewer, blew on it gently, and handed it to the little creature who was gazing at him eagerly.

The little one happily took the skewer and began to nibble with its tiny mouth.

"Heh." Henry Walker let out a heartfelt smile. This scene reminded him of the times he made barbecue for Grace and her daughter—it seemed just like this. Grace would sit there quietly eating, while Xiao Lei would always, just like now, blow on the skewer to cool it before handing it to Xiao Li'er.

Unconsciously, Henry Walker felt a warm, cozy sensation...

……

"Jingxin~ Jingxin~~ So here you are! I've been looking all over for you!" At this moment, a magnetic male voice came from the edge of the beach.

The beautiful swordswoman frowned in disgust when she heard the voice.

Her frown did not escape Henry Walker's notice, and he turned to face the direction the voice had come from.

Following the sound, he saw a blond man walking up from the shore. But Henry Walker didn't see any boat—had he swum over? Henry Walker wondered to himself.

But seeing that the man had no boat, Henry Walker remembered that he hadn't seen the beautiful swordswoman arrive by boat, either.

Though puzzled, Henry Walker had no intention of asking, because if the other party didn't want to tell him, he wouldn't ask. That's how it had always been with Grace—if Grace didn't say, he didn't ask.

Looking at the handsome blond man walking toward them, Henry Walker frowned, his right hand already gripping the two rib knives at his side, because a man's sixth sense told him that this guy was no good—he was a rival in love...
