Chapter 1

Volume One: Storms of the Poison Sea

Chapter 1: Falcon Jason Carter

  “Rat-tat-tat…”

China, on the border of Yunnan and Myanmar, in the tropical rainforest, the dense sound of gunfire echoed endlessly.

“No, the enemy’s firepower is too strong, retreat!”

A lieutenant, his face covered in camouflage paint and dressed in a Chinese military uniform, spoke softly into his radio.

“Do you know who they are? They’re definitely not an ordinary drug cartel, and those mercenaries are far from ordinary!”

A second lieutenant, dressed the same, asked into the radio.

“It’s the DG International Mercenary Group. The only ones who can escape from us and dare to set foot in China are them!”

The lieutenant gritted his teeth and spoke coldly.

As his words fell, a young man, also with his face covered in camouflage paint and no more than twenty years old, suddenly narrowed his pupils. Immediately after… a cold hatred flashed in his eyes.

  …

“Roll call, assemble!” the lieutenant shouted into the radio.

This squad had no name, only codenames. The lieutenant’s codename was Panther, and he was the leader of this six-man squad. Now, he had given the order to retreat and was preparing to call the roll.

  “Hound!”

  “Here!”

  “Coyote!”

  “Here!”

  “Grizzly!”

  “Here!”

  “Viper!”

  “Here!”

  “Falcon!”

“…” The leader, Panther, called out the last member’s name, but received no response.

“Falcon!” Panther called again into the radio, still with no reply.

“Where’s Falcon?” Panther’s expression changed, and the other squad members also frowned.

  …

A figure darted swiftly through the rainforest, his gaze as sharp as a falcon’s, holding an M25 sniper rifle in his hands, as if in pursuit of something.

His name was Jason Carter, with the codename Falcon, and he was a member of the Blade Special Forces.

“DG!” Jason Carter gritted his teeth, his falcon-like eyes filled with hatred.

DG was the name of a mercenary group, with DG standing for “Death God.” This was a mercenary group whose combat strength ranked among the world’s top five, and all its members were retired special forces from various countries!

Jason Carter remembered very clearly that before he joined Blade, his company commander was killed by DG—right in front of Jason Carter’s eyes!

From that day on, Jason Carter stood before his commander’s tombstone and swore that the next time he saw DG, he would avenge him! That’s why… Jason Carter worked so hard to become a member of Blade—everything was for today!

Now that DG had appeared, he… was going to fulfill his promise!

A man’s promise is heavier than life! When it comes to a promise, either don’t make it, or once you do, even if it costs your life, you must see it through!

“I’m going to… blow your brains out, one by one!”

Jason Carter gripped his M25 sniper rifle, scenes of his commander being killed by DG flashing through his mind. He remembered clearly—half of his commander’s head was blown off!

  …

Less than three kilometers from the Chinese border, six mercenaries armed with guns were escorting a fat, middle-aged man toward the border.

All six mercenaries were carrying heavy weapons with fierce firepower, and one even had a single-use rocket launcher slung over his shoulder! It was precisely because the enemy had such heavy firepower that Panther had given the order to retreat.

“What a joke, calling this a forbidden zone for mercenaries. Haven’t we come and gone twice already?” A Black man looked back at the rainforest with disdain.

“Don’t get careless. These six aren’t simple—they’re not like the opponents we faced last time.” A white man wearing sunglasses said. The “last time” he referred to… was Jason Carter’s company commander.

“Let’s… let’s rest a bit before moving on. I’m exhausted!” At that moment, the fat middle-aged man panted heavily.

“Hang in there a little longer. Once we’re across the border, we’ll be safe!” The white man frowned and said.

“It’s fine, they definitely won’t dare chase us. Didn’t you hear the gunfire stop? Let’s rest a bit—the employer is the most important.” The Black man with the rocket launcher flashed a white grin.

“Alright, five minutes’ rest.” The white man checked his watch and agreed.

  …

  “Die, you black bastard!”

At the same time, Jason Carter was hiding behind a large tree, aiming at the Black man carrying the rocket launcher. He sneered and pulled the trigger.

That Black man was carrying a rocket launcher—Jason Carter had to take him out first. Otherwise, if a rocket came his way, he’d be blown to pieces for sure!

  “Bang!…”
