Chapter 15

The whole sequence was witnessed clearly by Jason Carter from behind. At this moment, he narrowed his eyes, stepped on the gas, caught up to a Porsche, and rammed hard into the back of it.

The Jeep was already much larger than the sports car, and on top of that, it had been modified with military technology, making its materials extremely tough. The impact sent the Porsche flying five or six meters.

The speed of the Porsche, combined with the force of the collision, caused it to crash into the mountainside. The airbags deployed, and it was likely that the people inside had already lost consciousness.

The sudden turn of events made the Porsche driver ahead turn pale. He pulled out a pistol, rolled down the window, and prepared to shoot at the Jeep’s tires.

But how could Jason Carter let him have his way? In terms of reaction and speed with a gun, even ten Porsche drivers couldn’t compare to one Jason Carter. The moment the Porsche driver rolled down the window, Jason Carter had already drawn his pistol and fired at the driver’s arm.

“Bang!…” A gunshot rang out, and the Porsche driver let out a miserable scream. A hand holding a pistol flew through the air. At such close range, the power of a Chinese-made Type 92 pistol was enough to shatter an arm.

Because of the pain, the Porsche driver lost control of the car, which crashed hard into the Lamborghini, pushing it toward the edge of the cliff.

Jason Carter floored the gas, opened the car door, and shouted loudly at the Lamborghini, “Open the sunroof and jump over!”

At this point, the Lamborghini had already stalled. Maybe because Megan Clark had been frightened earlier, she could now clearly hear Jason Carter’s words.

“I... I can’t.” Megan Clark opened the sunroof, but when she saw the distance to Jason Carter, she immediately said with a sob in her voice, obviously terrified.

“It’s okay, I’ll catch you.” Jason Carter glanced at the Lamborghini—it was less than three meters from the cliff now. The Lamborghini was heavier than the Porsche, so the Porsche was struggling to push it.

The distance between the Lamborghini and the cliff kept shrinking. In the time it took to talk, it went from three meters to just one, but Megan Clark still didn’t move.

Jason Carter cursed under his breath, turned off his car, jumped out, and ran toward the Lamborghini. By now, the Lamborghini was only a few dozen centimeters from the edge.

Jason Carter jumped onto the Lamborghini, scooped up Megan Clark, and then leaped from the Lamborghini onto the Porsche. The instant he landed on the Porsche, the Lamborghini was pushed over the cliff.

Jason Carter smashed the Porsche’s window with a punch, grabbed the steering wheel, and yanked it hard, making the car drift sharply and preventing it from falling off the cliff as well.

“Ah!…” The Porsche driver was still screaming, blood covering the entire driver’s seat. Jason Carter glanced at Megan Clark but said nothing.

Even though these people were committing crimes, Jason Carter couldn’t just watch them die. As for what punishment they’d face if they survived, that was a matter for the law and had nothing to do with him.

“Vroom!…” Just then, the sound of a car horn came from not far away. Jason Carter narrowed his eyes, grabbed the expressionless Megan Clark without hesitation, and ran toward the Jeep.

They had just left when several gunshots rang out, and a Porsche sped toward Jason Carter’s Jeep.

“Bang!…” Jason Carter fired at the Porsche’s tire without hesitation. After the gunshot, the Porsche crashed into the mountainside, the airbags deployed, and the people inside were knocked unconscious by the impact.

Chapter 9: Laying the Groundwork for Conversation

All of this happened in an instant. Megan Clark’s expression shifted from numbness to panic, as if she was experiencing something like this for the first time.

“Get in the car.”

Jason Carter didn’t know if there were more pursuers behind them. To be safe, he pulled Megan Clark toward the Jeep.

He started the car, and Jason Carter continued driving along the track ahead. He knew there were two turns not far ahead: the left one led back to the track, the right one led toward the city.

Jason Carter definitely wasn’t going back to the track. He took the right turn, and as he drove, he glanced at Megan Clark from time to time, but she was still in a state of panic.

Time ticked by, and about an hour later, Jason Carter stopped the car.

“Who are you? Why are they trying to kill you?” Jason Carter asked Megan Clark.

His mission was to get close to this woman in order to infiltrate the Lin family, but he wasn’t foolish enough to try to cozy up to her right away. What he needed to do now was ask the kind of questions any normal person would ask.

“I don’t know…” Megan Clark’s face looked a little better now, but she was still nervous.

“What does your family do? Could it be related to them?” Jason Carter continued.

“My family is in business.” Megan Clark glanced at Jason Carter, answering cautiously.

“What kind of business?” Jason Carter narrowed his eyes.

“My dad never told me. He never lets me get involved in business matters.” Megan Clark twisted the hem of her clothes nervously, as if she was very afraid of Jason Carter.

After she finished speaking, Jason Carter was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. It seemed this drug lord still had a bit of conscience—not telling his own daughter about the drug trade, probably just in case.
