Chapter 4

“This is only your first year in the military. In your second year, through your hard work, you were personally recommended by the commander of the Sharp Sword Regiment to take the selection for the Blade Special Forces Unit. You passed in the end and became a member of the Blade Special Forces, codename Falcon.”

Ryan Brooks said this, stood up, walked over to Jason Carter, and asked with a smile, “Am I right?”

“Reporting to the captain, you’re abusing your authority to pry into someone else’s privacy. That’s unethical!” Jason Carter retorted, feeling a bit dissatisfied.

Ryan Brooks smiled without responding to Jason Carter, and said, “You’ve been in the Blade Unit for almost a year now. Do you know what the word ‘Blade’ means?”

“The sharp blade of Huaxia, a dagger always ready to pierce the heart of any invader!”

Having spent a year in the Blade Unit, Jason Carter certainly knew the unit’s mission.

Hearing Jason Carter’s answer, Ryan Brooks nodded in satisfaction and asked, “Do you know why I’m here?”

“I know. It’s nothing more than making me retire, or personally escorting me to the military tribunal of the North China Military District for review!” Jason Carter took a deep breath, looking as if he was ready for anything.

“You want to leave the army? Or… do you really want to go to the military tribunal that much?” Ryan Brooks raised his eyebrows and asked.

“……” Jason Carter was stunned for a moment, glanced at Ryan Brooks in confusion, and said, “Isn’t that it? I shot that drug lord, and a lot of leads were cut off because of it.”

“Want to atone for your mistakes with merit?”

Ryan Brooks didn’t answer Jason Carter’s question, but asked in return.

“Reporting to the captain, I do!”

Jason Carter wasn’t stupid. If he still didn’t understand what was going on by now, then his two years in the army would have been for nothing.

“Very good. Now I’m giving you a mission. In this mission, you can kill those who need to be killed and do what needs to be done, but you must remember one thing: safety first!”

Ryan Brooks took a photo from his pocket and placed it in Jason Carter’s hand.

“What’s this…”

Jason Carter glanced at the photo. It was a woman, and a very beautiful one at that.

“The daughter of the biggest drug lord in Huaxia. We need you to get close to her, and then obtain… what we want!” Ryan Brooks’s expression turned serious as he spoke solemnly.

Jason Carter frowned and fell silent.

“Second Lieutenant Falcon!” Suddenly, Ryan Brooks shouted loudly.

“Here!” Jason Carter saluted and responded loudly.

“Can you complete the mission?” Ryan Brooks stared into Jason Carter’s eyes and asked sternly.

“I guarantee to complete the mission!” Jason Carter looked resolutely at Ryan Brooks, making his second promise!

Chapter 2: Rain Encounter with Xinyi

The June rain comes without warning, giving you no time to prepare yourself.

In a public cemetery, Jason Carter had been standing there for three hours, letting the rain pour down on him.

Suddenly, he knelt down in the rain and kowtowed three times to the tombstone in front of him.

If anyone had been standing in front of Jason Carter at that moment, they would have been shocked, because Jason Carter was crying.

A man who bleeds but never cries, a Falcon who could single-handedly take down six DG mercenaries in three minutes—Jason Carter was now shedding tears!

If he remembered correctly, this should be the first time he had cried since he could remember!

“Grandpa, I’m unfilial. I didn’t get to see you one last time.”

Jason Carter was an orphan, raised by his grandfather since childhood. The old man passed away during Jason Carter’s first year in the army, and Jason Carter hadn’t been able to come back.

Now he had returned, but sadly, the old man was long gone.

Jason Carter remembered clearly that when he was little, his grandfather always saved the best food for him. Even when he boarded at school and only came home once a month, the good food was still there, even though it was already covered in white mold.

But the old man would rather let it spoil than eat it himself, always saving the best for Jason Carter. This was a grandfather’s silent love for his grandson.

Wiping away the tears mixed with rain, Jason Carter walked toward the army green jeep parked to the side.

He opened the door, got in, started the engine, and prepared to leave.

But just then, a sudden screech of brakes came from behind, and a red BMW X6 crashed into the back of the jeep.

The rain was coming down too hard, so dense that the wipers couldn’t keep up with the water on the windshield—it was easy to get into an accident.

Jason Carter got out, ran to the back to take a look. The red BMW had braked just in time, only scraping a bit of paint off the jeep.

“Sorry, the rain was too heavy and I didn’t see there was a car in front. But don’t worry, I’ll pay for the repairs.”

The voice was a woman’s, very pleasant to the ear. But these days, there really aren’t many women driving an X6.

“It’s fine, it’s just a little scratch. No need to go to all that trouble.” Jason Carter wasn’t the type to make a fuss when he was in the right, and he didn’t have time to waste on this kind of thing right now.

As they spoke, the girl from the BMW got out, holding a black umbrella. As she walked over, she sized up Jason Carter, feeling that he looked a bit familiar.

Six foot one, a sturdy build, handsome features, sharply defined, and a pair of eyes as piercing as a hawk’s.
