Chapter 8

Big Shanghai? If he remembered correctly, Big Shanghai was a nightclub in S City, and it was the most expensive one. A bottle of beer that cost three or four yuan outside could be sold for over a hundred yuan a bottle inside.

“Big Shanghai? What the hell is this guy up to now?” Jason Carter muttered to himself, a bad feeling rising in his heart.

“This bastard better not go down the wrong path!” Jason Carter cursed under his breath, slammed his foot on the gas, and sped toward Big Shanghai. Traffic in S City was terrible, and this was rush hour, the worst time for traffic jams. Even though it wasn’t far from here to Big Shanghai, because of the traffic, it would be pretty good if Jason Carter could get there before six o’clock.

Michael Bolton had always struck Jason Carter as a straightforward guy, one of the few friends he had in high school. He really didn’t want to see Michael Bolton go astray.

Chapter 4: Out of One’s Control

“Beep beep!……”

“Beep beep your ass! You think honking will make the traffic disappear? In such a hurry to be reincarnated or what?”

“This guy is so annoying, it’s like dumplings being dropped into a pot—every day at this time, it’s always this jammed!”

Jason Carter sat in his car, surrounded by the sound of horns and drivers cursing. S City was a highly developed city, and while development was a good thing, every advantage came with a downside—traffic jams were one of the most prominent features of a growing city.

The cars ahead stretched on endlessly, with no end in sight, and it was the same behind him, like a long dragon.

Accompanied by the blaring horns and curses, Jason Carter finally made it through the long traffic jam and arrived at Big Shanghai nightclub at ten past six.

After parking the car, Jason Carter walked into the lobby on the first floor and headed to the front desk.

“Hello, sir. Do you have a reservation?” The receptionist gave Jason Carter a professional smile and asked.

“I’m here to see a friend,” Jason Carter replied.

“May I have your friend’s name?” The receptionist continued to smile.

“Heizi—oh, no, Michael Bolton.” Jason Carter corrected himself.

“So you’re a guest of Michael! Michael is in 818. I’ll take you there myself.” Upon hearing Jason Carter’s words, the receptionist immediately smiled even more warmly.

“No need, I’ll go up myself.” Jason Carter raised his hand to decline and walked toward the elevator.

He entered the elevator, pressed the button for the 8th floor, and let out a sigh. He wasn’t stupid—judging from the receptionist’s reaction to hearing Michael Bolton’s name, Blackie… was no longer the same Blackie as before.

“Time really can change everything!” Jason Carter shook his head as the elevator doors opened.

818 was a private room on the 8th floor. People who could make it up here were usually people of status. Two years had really changed a lot.

As Jason Carter approached the private room, before he even entered, he could already hear the laughter of many women inside.

He knew what kind of place this was. Even though he’d never been here before, he’d at least seen it from afar.

Pushing the door open, Jason Carter glanced around. The private room was huge, probably about 150 square meters. Inside sat thirteen provocatively dressed young women, all of whom looked quite young.

Besides these women, there were three men. Two of them Jason Carter didn’t recognize, but the remaining one was Blackie.

Blackie used to have a buzz cut, but now Blackie’s hairstyle was hard for Jason Carter to even describe. Compared to two years ago, Blackie now had several knife scars on his body.

With Jason Carter’s arrival, the room’s merrymaking stopped. Blackie stood up from the sofa, walked over to Jason Carter, and patted him on the shoulder with a smile. “Not bad! Looks like you haven’t had a hard time these past two years—you’re even stronger than before!”

At this, Blackie turned to the two other men and said, “Let me introduce you—this is my old brother. Just call him Jason! I haven’t seen my brother in two years, so you two head out for a bit!”

“Okay, Michael.” The two men got up and walked out of the room. As they passed by Jason Carter, they paused and said, “Well then, Jason… we’ll step out for now.”

“Alright.” Jason Carter nodded, his expression unchanged.

Once the two had left, Blackie pulled Jason Carter over to the sofa. As soon as Jason Carter sat down, three or four of the provocatively dressed women moved in close, but he pushed them all away.

“What’s wrong, brother? Still shy? This is a place to have fun—everyone’s here to enjoy themselves. Once you leave, nobody knows anybody! Just relax and have a good time!” Blackie said with a laugh.

“I’m fine just sitting here,” Jason Carter replied, frowning.

“True, only a woman like Emily Brooks is worthy of you. No wonder you’re not interested in these ordinary girls, haha…” Blackie said, looking at Jason Carter.

Jason Carter smiled but said nothing.

“By the way, Jason, why didn’t you go to school two years ago? If you had, you and Emily Brooks would probably be together by now, right? And what have you been up to these past two years? You’ve got to tell your brother all about it.” Blackie opened two bottles of beer and handed one to Jason Carter.

Jason Carter took the beer, took a sip, and said, “Don’t ask about me. Let’s talk about you.”
