Chapter 1: The Traditional Beginning of Hero Louis Carter
Standing in a dark alley, Louis Carter looked around at his surroundings. The constant sounds of explosions and shouting in his ears made him frown. "Doesn't seem like a good place."
Standing in the alley, he could see people constantly running across the street not far away, along with flickering firelight and screams.
"This kind of scene..." After carefully checking his surroundings, not missing even the upper areas and some corners, Louis Carter finally closed his eyes and focused his attention on his left hand. Then, a message appeared in his mind: Escape from Raccoon City!
"This really is the most classic of classic openings!"
Now that he knew where he was and what his 'mission' was, Louis Carter touched the hilt of the sword at his waist, marveling at the strange experiences he'd had recently.
Just a month ago, Louis Carter was still lying in a hospital bed, quietly waiting for the end to come. At that time, he was just glad his parents were already gone and that he hadn't married or had children.
When Louis Carter's consciousness, which had been growing dim, became clear again, he found himself in another world, inexplicably becoming the legendary hero.
According to the sage Myles Cooper who summoned him, the whole world was facing a huge crisis, with the evil Demon King spreading evil and terror everywhere.
Through studying ancient texts in the church, sage Myles Cooper learned that only the 'legendary hero' could defeat the Demon King.
Unfortunately, no one took Myles Cooper's discovery seriously. Except for Myles Cooper, everyone else was dealing with the crisis in their own way.
Receiving no support, Myles Cooper chose to set out alone. Eventually, in a remote village called Redwood Village, he found the magical artifact described in the ancient texts and successfully summoned the legendary hero.
"Hero..." Louis Carter glanced down at his left hand. When he focused his attention there, a special mark would appear on the back of his hand. That was the so-called Hero's Mark, proof that he was the 'legendary hero.'
Becoming the 'legendary hero' out of nowhere, Louis Carter didn't think it was a bad thing.
Although he was just an ordinary person in his previous life, he had imagined more than once what it would be like to be the 'main character.' Now, he finally got the chance and a new life—no matter how he looked at it, he was winning.
After crossing over, he had also become a young man of about twenty, though for some reason his appearance had turned into that of a mixed-race youth.
As for being a hero and having to face the Demon King who threatened the whole world?
Louis Carter didn't care. He'd think about it when he actually stood before the Demon King. For now, there were more urgent problems to solve—like eliminating the evil forces surrounding Redwood Village, which was why he had come to this zombie-infested city.
"Raccoon City...
Resident Evil...
I wonder which version this is?"
Not to mention the two main categories of game and movie versions, the game versions alone included Operation Raccoon City, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and its remake, as well as The Darkside Chronicles and other different versions.
Louis Carter's mission was to escape from Raccoon City. Once he completed the mission, he could leave here and return to the world threatened by the Demon King.
There was no punishment for failing the mission, but if that happened, he'd be turned to ashes along with Raccoon City.
No matter which version, Raccoon City always gets hit by a nuke in the end. If he didn't want to be killed by a nuclear bomb, he had to get far away from this city.
"Although it's a bit troublesome, it's not an impossible task."
He slowly walked to the mouth of the alley and looked outside. The situation on the street was extremely chaotic. Occasionally, he saw panicked people running by, and some shadows wandering slowly in the darkness. From time to time, there were also gunshots and explosions.
"The virus has just broken out on a large scale?"
Seeing so many living people, the virus outbreak should be at its early stage, meaning Raccoon City had just fallen into chaos.
"There's still plenty of time!"
From the outbreak to the final nuclear destruction of the city, there were a few days in between, so he didn't have to worry about running out of time.
"In that case, I can do more things!
Besides collecting weapons, I can also gather some crop seeds."
Whether or not he had to fight the Demon King, Louis Carter was sure he'd go through many battles, and firearms could quickly boost his combat power. With a plan in mind, Louis Carter's next step was to collect all his target items.
"Better change clothes first..." He was currently wearing coarse cloth garments from that other world. Although no one would care in this environment, they weren't very comfortable.
If he had no choice, it would be fine, but now that he could get something better, of course he wanted to change. Besides, he was more used to 'modern clothing.'
Just as he left the alley and crossed the street, a zombie suddenly lunged out from the shadows nearby.
