Chapter 15

Louis Carter suddenly remembered that the target of the pursuer was STARS, and since Bradley Harris hadn’t turned into a zombie like in the original story, if the pursuer couldn’t find Jill, it was very likely he would go after Bradley Harris.

Jill realized this as well, worried that Bradley Harris wouldn’t heed Louis Carter’s warning, so she repeated herself: “Bradley Harris, listen carefully, you must not leave the subway station!”

After speaking, she looked behind her again. Since they had walked quite far, she could no longer see that monster. She began to consider whether she should go back.

Should she actively lure the pursuer to hunt her down?

Chapter 8: None of Them Are Quite Normal

“Don’t think about it. The sooner we restore power to the subway, the sooner the surviving citizens can get to safety.”

If the subway power is restored quickly, those people can leave sooner. Otherwise, even without the pursuer, the ordinary people trapped in Raccoon City would still run into other troubles.

Louis Carter’s reminder made Jill set aside her previous thoughts: “You’re right, the most important thing now is to restore subway power.”

Glancing at Louis Carter beside her, she wondered who Louis Carter really was, or which organization had sent him to Raccoon City.

He was concerned about the safety of ordinary citizens—could he be an agent sent by the authorities?

Louis Carter had no idea what Jill was thinking, or he would definitely have retorted, “Would agents from your backwater even care about that?”

Because of the pursuer, the two unconsciously quickened their pace. As they moved quickly, Louis Carter felt his physical abilities improving. The increase in strength made it easier for him to carry more equipment, and the boost in agility further enhanced his already impressive reflexes.

A zombie dog suddenly leapt out from the shadows. Louis Carter instantly dodged, raised his gun, and fired. The zombie dog was dead before it even hit the ground.

Jill, walking in front, turned around just in time to see Louis Carter swiftly and decisively take out the ambushing zombie dog. Anyone who saw Louis Carter’s actions wouldn’t mistake him for an ordinary person, further confirming the impression that he was some kind of trained agent.

Jill would never believe that Louis Carter had only become much stronger after meeting her. Before that, he had only killed a few zombies, and the slight increase in endurance had merely shored up his weaknesses—he was just an ordinary person in good shape.

Louis Carter hadn’t become a superman, but all his attributes had improved rapidly. The harsh environment of Raccoon City allowed him to adapt to his enhanced physique as quickly as possible. Combined with the ease of mastering modern weapons, this was why Louis Carter had developed such decent combat ability in such a short time.

“We’re here!”

The two of them arrived smoothly at the subway company and reset the subway’s route. According to the plan, the subway would head to the park, and once there, Michael should find a way to lead the survivors out of Raccoon City.

It was only at this point that Louis Carter began to understand the layout of Raccoon City: the entire city was surrounded by mountains and rivers, with only one exit.

Umbrella had originally chosen to build various research facilities and secret bases here precisely because of this.

If anything went wrong, they only needed to block the single road, and the entire city could be sealed off.

“No wonder, whether in the movies or the games, the whole city is always so easily locked down.”

The park wasn’t far from the city’s only exit road. It was uncertain whether Michael, in his injured state, could lead the survivors to break through.

After finishing the setup, Jill turned on the radio and informed Carl that they had completed their task and could now start the subway.

“Jill, while that freak hasn’t found you yet, hurry back to the subway station.”

Carl urged Jill over the radio to return to the subway station, but Jill had already made up her mind.

“Don’t worry, I’ve already thought of a way to deal with that guy. You all start the subway and get out of here.”

Jill was determined to take down that monster.

As she walked out of the subway company, a zombie with a bizarre head—almost as if a cylinder had been placed on its shoulders—appeared in front of her. Jill was communicating via radio and only glanced at it in surprise, not raising her weapon.

She wasn’t alone; with just one zombie, Louis Carter could handle it.

Sure enough, the strangely shaped zombie fell instantly under Louis Carter’s sword, its cylinder-like head stabbed straight through.

“We don’t have to worry about that guy going after Bradley Harris anymore.”

These strange zombies were created by the pursuer. Seeing one here meant the pursuer was nearby. Louis Carter was genuinely curious how the pursuer was able to track down Jill.

“You mean that thing has already caught up?”

“Yes!”

After receiving a definite answer, Jill immediately told Carl over the radio, “Start the subway now, while that thing is still with me.”

“Damn it, Jill!

Get rid of that thing, quick!”

Ignoring the urging from Bradley Harris and Carl over the radio, Jill simply turned it off and checked the ammo in her gun.

“The hospital is a bit far from here, and we don’t have any liquid nitrogen or molten steel right now.”

After checking her weapon, Jill looked at Louis Carter: “Do you have any ideas?”
